So who is coming when? Let me know, as I'd like to have youse all over one of those nights.
KC Jun 18 2005 11:57 AM |
We'll hit DC prolly early afternoon Sunday. I originally only had Mon and

ScarletKnight41 Jun 18 2005 12:29 PM |
We'll be coming down Sunday and staying three nights. I don't know the timing for Sunday yet - it depends whether the little guy has a Little League game that day. I'll know more by the end of the week.
KC Jun 18 2005 12:37 PM |
I'd like to tailgate on the fourth! Anyone know RFK's tailgaiting policies?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 18 2005 12:41 PM |
They probably haven't gotten around to making policies yet. They still have Expos Baseball on the caller ID (I'm serious!).
Edgy DC Jun 18 2005 12:45 PM |
Weather has been great the last few days down here.
Willets Point Jun 18 2005 09:27 PM |
The wtb & I are flying in Saturday morning and staying with friends in Virginia and then flying home Monday night because we both have to be at work on Tuesday. I'm hoping we see the fireworks from the plane. We'll be visiting lots of college friends but if Edgy comes up with something maybe we can drop in.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 19 2005 04:18 PM |
Vic - there's a ticket with your name on it, and a young lady in our group who would be happy to talk your ear off about Broadway musicals and comic books. Will you be joining us?
Rockin' Doc Jun 20 2005 12:03 AM |
Our family will be arrriving the morning of Saturday, July 2nd. We will depart for home by noon on Tuesday, July 5th.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 20 2005 07:20 AM |
I still have one ticket left. Any takers?
soupcan Jun 20 2005 09:29 AM |
Wish I could.
KC Jun 20 2005 08:19 PM |
This is a Redskins page, but I doubt the jist is different for baseball.
Edgy DC Jun 23 2005 09:24 AM |
So when's a good time for evuhbody to come by the Train Station (Casa d'Edgy) for a meal?

I'll make plans for the third and hope the majority can come.

The Third works for me - let me know how to arm the kids.

Fed Ex it to me, and I'll leave it in your hotel room.
KC Jun 23 2005 09:54 AM |
Fed Exing a shot gun to Washington DC sounds a little risky.
Willets Point Jun 23 2005 10:16 AM |
Um, I was all up for meeting y'all until I saw you were bringing firearms. Yikes!
MFS62 Jun 23 2005 10:19 AM |
WP, if you can make it, go.

What you're talking about is a mass of humanity on the National Mall. It's just oft a little tough to handle the human density there.
KC Jun 23 2005 12:40 PM |
No human density for me, thank you.
MFS62 Jun 23 2005 02:00 PM |
Check out the Old Post Office Tower.
Johnny Dickshot Jun 23 2005 02:10 PM |
Our plans are not set yet. We're getting the\re on the 2nd and leavinfg the 5th I think

Good idea, but the tower closes at 7:45: http://www.nps.gov/opot/pphtml/planyourvisit.html
Edgy DC Jun 24 2005 01:07 PM |
Any more ETAS?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 24 2005 01:15 PM |
Mid-afternoon for us. D-Dad arranged the 8-year-old All Stars tournament schedule so that Mini Knight doesn't have a game that day (he was originally scheduled to have a 2 pm game on the third, but D-Dad wasn't having any tournament interfere with the Pool gathering so he worked out a trade).
Johnny Dickshot Jun 26 2005 07:08 PM |
We're set. Arriving in town Saturday, seeing the relatives, then checking into the hotel Sunday, staying till Wed. am. Whatever you're up for...
Edgy DC Jun 26 2005 07:33 PM Edited 2 time(s), most recently on Jun 26 2005 08:15 PM |
OK, alright.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 26 2005 07:42 PM |
Have minivan, will travel. We're a party of five, although potentially six on the 4th (I don't know whether my cousin will wish to join us after the game).
KC Jun 26 2005 08:18 PM |
Sounds like the makings of good plans, although I doubt I'll be dancing.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 26 2005 08:20 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 26 2005 08:22 PM |
You won't dance with me?
Edgy DC Jun 26 2005 08:21 PM |
Cha just told me, "If you're friends don't dance, then they're no friends of mine."
seawolf17 Jun 26 2005 08:28 PM |
Your mama don't dance, and your daddy don't rock and roll.. but when evening comes around and it's time to hit the town, where do you go?
Edgy DC Jun 26 2005 08:33 PM |
I suspected you were a closet Messina man.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 26 2005 08:37 PM |
So long as it's Messina and not Mussina.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 12:07 AM |
I got a long e-mail from a fellow SABR-dude for those of you who might be in town on the second.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 10:28 AM |
OK, more fun than going to book events to celebrate biographies of obscure baseball figures might be the new cheetah cubs unveiled at the national zoo.

Is "homoditity" the density of gay people in the area? Are you expecting them all to go off to Rehoboth next weekend?
seawolf17 Jun 27 2005 10:46 AM |
Actually, I thought "homoditity" would be a song by Erasure or something.

Damn - I almost needed the Heimlich over that one....

Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 11:53 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 27 2005 12:17 PM |
Well, the Jury's Washington Hotel is in Dupont Circle, where the homoditity, by that definition, is always high. Even when it's low, it's high.

ScarletKnight41 Jun 27 2005 12:12 PM |

Back to the story. Should I make a reservaton for Sequoia?
KC Jun 27 2005 08:46 PM |
We're fine with that (I am, I didn't discuss it with KB) and I'd rather eat in-
ScarletKnight41 Jun 27 2005 08:48 PM |
We're also fine with that, and seconding Kase's vote for AC.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 09:09 PM |
Scarlet, how many in your party?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 27 2005 09:11 PM |
My party is 5 or 6, depending upon whether my cousin will be joining us after the game.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 09:16 PM |
I'll pursue a friend who might join us.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 27 2005 09:22 PM |
Tix are $16 apiece ($15 face, plus $1 each to cover the handling costs).
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2005 09:52 PM |
Doc and the Dockettes (a party of 4) are looking forward to a fun weekend. We are fine with a group dinner at the Sequoia. Willing to eat and drink most anywhere, but would probably prefer indoor seating for the reasons KC stated.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 09:53 PM |
How many Dockettes will that be?
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2005 10:06 PM |
After hitting the send button, I realised that I had not included a head count for our gang. I went back to edit it, but apparently you had already seen and replied to my post. Man your quick on the mouse.
Willets Point Jun 27 2005 10:52 PM |
I'm still frightened by the weaponry.
Edgy DC Jun 27 2005 10:57 PM |
Will youse not be able to join us on the third either, then?
Willets Point Jun 27 2005 11:02 PM |
The honest but unsatisfying answer is "dunno."
KC Jun 28 2005 06:35 AM |
When do we find out where Edge lives? His phone number? The best way
Edgy DC Jun 28 2005 07:33 AM |
I'll mass-e-mail the DiamondKnights, the KCs, the Dickshots, the Points, the CornerDocs, and Vic Sage today (if I have all their addies).
ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 08:18 AM |
Vic, sadly, will not be joining us.
Willets Point Jun 28 2005 12:43 PM |
Are you not going to be at the tailgate?
KC Jun 28 2005 01:00 PM |
She better be, she has my Mr. Met pin.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 02:00 PM |
I'll be tailgating, for sure.
Willets Point Jun 28 2005 02:02 PM |
So we can get our tickets then, no?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 02:07 PM |
Yes, but don't be late.
Willets Point Jun 28 2005 02:08 PM |
What about your famous blue drink?
ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 02:13 PM |
Honestly, we haven't thought ahead to what we're bringing for Monday (well, we have, but not in great detail). I'm not sure whether D-Dad is going to be bringing the required ingredients along (but it's something to consider).
silverdsl Jun 28 2005 02:51 PM |
I will definitely be at the game on the 4th so please keep me in the loop regarding where you guys will be tailgating because I'd love to try and stop by to meet everyone! I'll have another Yankee fan with me and two non-baseball fans so I can't guarentee I'll be able to make it by but hopefully I'll be able to convince them to go to the game early enough.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2005 02:57 PM |
Email me at edgydc@yahoo.com and I'll get you in the loop.
Willets Point Jun 28 2005 03:40 PM |
Ok, so it appears that I'm confirmed for a cookout the night of July 3, and another cookout on July 4 (somewhere between the game and the airport, I really don't know how this works) so the only CPF events I will have time for is the tailgate and the game itself. Apparently, I'm popular in Washington (or my fiancee is).

ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 04:53 PM |
D-Dad says he can pack the makings for the blue stuff.
Diamond Dad Jun 28 2005 05:05 PM Tailgate or bust |
Never miss a tailgate party -- especially when KC is involved. I'll have to find a local store to buy some brats morning of the game, along with some ice for drinks. I'll bring mini-grill as well as chairs and table, KC. Also ingredients for blue drinks (any preference between blue Marguaritas or Electric Lemonade??). I have blue cups and blue and orange napkins. Usual stuff. Also banners to mark off tailgate location. Unfortunately, probably not room in the van to pack the shelter.
KC Jun 28 2005 05:39 PM |
Well this will be a toned down tailgate party by Jets standards. Plus, we rented
Johnny Dickshot Jun 28 2005 09:32 PM |
I'd bring the Chinese Box but I got no way to bring it home. Would be great at a Jets game though.
Diamond Dad Jun 29 2005 08:38 AM Pedro's rotation |
He'll probably pitch tomorrow (Thursday) and then again on Tuesday the 5th. Willie will want to give him the extra day of rest created by the off day on Monday.
KC Jun 29 2005 09:01 AM |
The Chinese box would be good for December games. We could charge
Johnny Dickshot Jun 29 2005 09:14 AM |
It's on. First Annual CPF J-E-T-S Jets Pig Roast, December 05.

That is so funny - without seeing this post, I was just writing about this day in the answer/ask thread.
Edgy DC Jun 29 2005 09:29 AM |
That was a great July fourth.
Diamond Dad Jun 29 2005 12:08 PM That was a great day |
Thanks, KC -- it was '86. Summer of magic. Gooden bested Ryan, then spectacular fireworks over the Hudson River. (And we didn't even know then that the Mets/Astros would meet later in the NLCS)
ScarletKnight41 Jun 30 2005 08:26 AM |
I told Mini Knight that we'd probably see Ishii pitch on Tuesday.
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 08:35 AM |
You all DC-bounders get my epistle? I only heard back from Scarlet and Vic.
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 08:36 AM |
Oop. Just saw Doc and KC in my inbox.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 30 2005 08:57 AM |
Hottie - how old are your Dockettes?
Willets Point Jun 30 2005 10:44 AM |
Aaaaarrr Matey, all the directions are printed out.

Rockin' Doc Jun 30 2005 12:52 PM |
Scarlett, my son is 16 and my daughter is 14.
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 01:01 PM |
I'm forwarding that to the group via e-mail. Sheeee...
Willets Point Jun 30 2005 01:03 PM |
I'd probably be more recognizable if I wore a kilt, but that was a rental, so I don't have one handy.
holychicken Jun 30 2005 04:38 PM |
Have fun at the game this weekend guys and girls. Wish I could have made it.
KC Jun 30 2005 09:10 PM |
I have two tickets for the Tues night game available if anyone is interested.
Edgy DC Jun 30 2005 10:04 PM |
Scarlet, I indeed have someone who would like that last ticket.
Willets Point Jun 30 2005 10:08 PM |
I hope her name is cooby.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 30 2005 10:40 PM |
Great - Edgy's friend gets the final ticket.
Diamond Dad Jul 01 2005 01:51 PM banner |
We'll have the "Let's Go/Vamos Mets" banner in honor of Pedro's start on Tuesday. Probably won't be able to hang it in the stadium, but maybe we can hold it up between innings for the TV crew.
Rockin' Doc Jul 03 2005 07:38 AM Greetings from the nations capital... |
The southern contingent rolled into DC around 9:00 PM on Friday. Found the hotel without too much trouble, missed one turn just a few blocks from the hotel, but otherwise smooth sailing and the traffic was surprisingly light.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 03 2005 08:32 AM |
We should be hitting town around 3:00-4:00 ourselves. We're looking forward to seeing everyone.
Rockin' Doc Jul 03 2005 03:42 PM |
Just got in from a hectic day of sight seeing. I feel like I've walked enough to almost be at Shea. Had a fun time taking in the sights of the Tidal Basin and downtown monument area.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 03 2005 10:42 PM |
Dinner at Edgy and Cha Cha's place was a lot of fun. We were there with Kase, KB, Rockin Doc and the Dockettes, and Mr. & Mrs. Dickshot. Good food and lots of laughs for all in attendance. Tomorrow we tailgate at RFK before the game.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 03 2005 11:14 PM |
So I e-mailed cooby and told her that we all missed her tonight, and she said, "Yeah, sure."
Edgy DC Jul 03 2005 11:25 PM |
She's being coy.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 04 2005 08:36 AM |
D-Dad just went out to grab us something to eat for breakfast (keeping it small, since we'll be tailgating soon). He came back with Starbucks Coffee and Krispy Kreme Donuts.
seawolf17 Jul 04 2005 08:51 AM |
It's both interesting and yet completely bizarre that we can get the play-by-play of everyone's trip to DC. Wish we could be there. Perhaps next year. We went out for ice cream last night, and I almost got a Nationals helmet sundae to be with you in solidarity... then I realized that I hat the Nationals (no pun intended), so I got it in a regular dish instead.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 04 2005 09:02 AM |
So here's what the rest of you missed.
Willets Point Jul 05 2005 01:27 PM |
We missed Cooby. In fact, we all mentioned her when we saw Carlos Baerga in the Washington lineup and again when Baerga made a good catch in foul territory.
Rockin' Doc Jul 05 2005 06:42 PM |
Our family returned from a fun filled holiday weekend in the nation's capital a few hours ago. It was a great gathering filled with good food and even better fellowship.
Edgy DC Jul 05 2005 07:19 PM |
You're welcome. Thanks for being no stranger.
KC Jul 05 2005 07:37 PM |
Home safely ... I hat NJ traffic in the summer. Hat NJ in general, er nevermind.

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet up with everyone prior to the game. Unfortunately I wasn't able to convince the folks I was with to see if we could find you guys since they were very anxious to get into the stadium. But I'm glad to hear that everyone had a great time!
We ended up with great seats thanks to someone who gave us his season tix for the game. So I wandered around the lower level periodically to take pics which you can check out here if you want: http://www.aplaceformyphotos.com/photos.php?cat=18. I got in there towards the end of Mets BP and I have to say while I haven't always liked everything that Pedro had done on the mound, he gets a huge thumbs up from me because he clearly gets it when it comes to the fans. I don't know what he does at Shea or anywhere else but yesterday he was signing balls and throwing them into the crowd during BP. Sometimes it seems like a lot of players would rather not be bothered with tthe fans - not Pedro. More players should do as he, and others who do similar things, do. Anyway, it was a hot but fun game!
Edgy DC Jul 05 2005 10:17 PM |
Those are great shots.

cooby Jul 05 2005 10:42 PM |

Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2005 07:21 AM |
Silver, nice photos. I think my Mets shirt and hat may have had something to do with my camera problems with security.
cooby Jul 06 2005 07:52 AM |
Next time, wear a KC Royals shirt. Nobody ever cares about them
Yancy Street Gang Jul 06 2005 08:06 AM |
Do they even make Kansas City Royals shirts?
cooby Jul 06 2005 11:01 AM |
If they do, I'll bet the Royals own them all

ScarletKnight41 Jul 06 2005 06:37 PM |
After being greeted at RFK with the sight of "Mets Suck" t-shirts on the way into the ballpark accompanied by M-E-T-S Suck Suck Suck chanting, I wouldn't be surprised that RD was discriminated against because of his team of choice.

ScarletKnight41 Jul 09 2005 05:07 PM |
Because KB crouches behind trees in order to surreptitiously snap photos of unsuspecting subjects ;)

Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2005 11:30 PM |
