Keeping Up With the Old Place

Dear ezboard Family,

The good news is that we have nothing new to report today – the final two steps of the restoral process are happening across the network, and we expect to be on schedule for completion over the weekend. It is important to understand that at this point there is no such thing as a completely restored server – even the servers farthest along in the process require some additional work. On a related subject, we are continuing to work on recovering p087 data from this weekend’s hard drive problem.

For quick reference, I have attached the Q&A from previous day’s update to the bottom of this message.

If you have additional questions please continue to carefully read the balance of this update. Should your question still not be answered after reading this update and you don’t think that our customer service team or help forums can answer your question then please feel free to e-mail me at the address below.

I remain available for and welcome your emails. However, please do not write to me as a way of circumventing the normal CS process, or to request information specific to the status of your board. I will be referring all normal CS requests to the appropriate forum or queue, and cannot provide information on the status of specific boards and servers.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Rob

The old place aka the archives.

Any plans to save/ move over the old Song Parody threads? I haven't noticed them here yet.

BTW- I clicked on two of the game threads a few minutes ago and go the "Critical Error" message. But I went back a few minutes later and they were ok.

Later

BTW, they are STILL losing posts over there. The Funny Links thread has been decimated.

That was my legacy.

I'm nothing now.

It gets worse, soupcan. Your first link in the remaining post there doesn't work anymore either

Today's update is at least upbeat

Dear ezboard Family,

The restoral process continues on schedule. Four of five steps are nearly complete across the network; the final step will reload all restored data. We still expect all steps to be completed through the weekend. At that point, we will then go to work on restoring all community financial data, addressing Gold Community credits and other financial questions, and sharing our plans for current system improvements and beta testing of the new product.

We are so very sorry for the time the restoral process has taken, and we hope that these updates have helped to reduce your anxiety. We greatly appreciate your patience and support, and want to complete this process as quickly and well as we possibly can

The restoral process may take forever, but they don't miss a beat when asking people for more $$$$.

I think I hat them.

You know what I miss about the old place? Two very specific things. One, the "What To Do With Mr. Koo" thread, featuring all the songs (Norrin's original, my Volume 2, and I believe there was a third).

Two... the spring prediction game thread, where we all posted our guesses for the club HR leader, games played at all the positions, wins, etc. Is that gone?

cooby
Jun 15 2005 06:58 PM

Yes, but it'll be ALL back this weekend!

I TOLD you so, Scarlet!

That's classic, for sure.

But I won't be happy until my adoptees papers are back in order.

Thanks for a look back a classic thread, very funny.

Now that I've had a place to look, it does still look a little desolate

A couple of the more recent archives which had gone blank - like X, XI, XII - have returned. Nothing complete as of yet ... but it's getting there.

I second that.

I haven't checked on this much in the past couple of days, but it's pretty obvious there were people counting on getting all their board back, plus extra compensation as well. So much for customer faith.

It's quite the slap in the face.

How long will ezboard host conversations like those threads. It's really kinda
fascinating how emotional and attached people get to boards.

As for moving, we stepped in dog poo and got lucky. Thankfully it was before
we renewed which was looming on the horizon.

It'll be interesting to see if ezboard can weather this. I think I'll backup now,
again ... ;-)

I knew we were in trouble when they only offered $5,000 for information about the hacker. He or she's potentially (I'd say probably) destroyed your company, you're paying overtime hand-over-fist, and you offer a used Toyota Tercel to bring to justice perhaps your only hope for restitution?

On a side note, does anyone know what forum/page one might find the "offseason
songs the Ramones covered" thread. I'd like to see if it survived.

Ah, yes, now he cares about Restoration Nation.

It should be somewhere's in NBF archives. Willets should know.

Is the old CPF serving as a sort of archive unto itself or should we be moving selected threads (for instance the song parodies) from there to here? If we are looking to move some threads, where would they best be placed?

cooby
Jul 10 2005 05:25 PM

Heck, there's still stuff there that could be manually restored if anybody felt like it
