Conferences Are Fun

So it was quite a night tonight at the SUNYCAP (SUNY College Admissions Professionals) Awards Banquet. First I took home one of the two $250 Best Buy gift cards. Nice enough evening right there; I came back to the table and said "I can go home happy right now!" Then I got an award: A SUNYCAP Achievement Award, thanks to a nice recommendation by my old boss. Then I got on stage with the band. They had one of these party bands, with the brass section and everything, and they did all sorts of neat covers. Well, they called the conference chair up on stage, put him in front of a microphone, and started playing "The Joker." Problem was, he didn't know the words. So he looked into the crowd for inspiration; and since I saw he clearly needed help... ...he handed me the microphone, the singer invited me on stage, and I sang "The Joker." Good times. There were a million cameras going off; I'm sure pictures will surface soon enough. Yet another example of the fact that you don't even have to be drinking to have fun at these things.

MOFo flashback. Somebody new started a "Tell us about yourself" thread which soon became clear was just an opportunity to fictionalize your private life. The artist now known as Johnny Dickshot's bio was reduced to four words. Picker. Grinner. Lover. Sinner. Funny how, after he adopted a new handle over here, some people called him Maurice.
