What Happened to Kevin Mitchell's Girlfriend's Cat?
What in your opinion really happened?
It went down just like the book says, despite Gooden's backtracking. (And, if Mitchell is that nuts, wouldn't you backtrack?) | 0 votes |
It went down just like the book says, with Gooden thinking that Klap would keep the more salacious details off the record. | 2 votes |
Gooden made almost all of it up. | 0 votes |
It went down sort of like the book says, with Kalpisch embellishing Gooden's account.. | 8 votes |
It was a rumor that Gooden had heard, and he (or Klapsich) told the story as if he was there. | 6 votes |
Klapish made almost all of it up. | 0 votes |

This account at the Snopes Urban Legends Reference Pages sums up most sides of the story.

I'm going to go with yet another option, a possibility that was floated on the Snopes page:

Good. I added that.

I voted for this:
When writers like Klap-trap write some stuff that's way out there, they usually attribute it to "anonymous sources." For him to cite Gooden, that may be his way of smearing both Mitchell for the deed (verified or not) and Gooden for telling tales out of school. Later

The "rumor" angle seems the most likely, I suppose... maybe Gooden really knew nothing of it, and Klapisch put it in the book just for the controversy's sake.

Chassky (sometimes spelled "Chasky" on the internet) is now the marketing agent for, among others, Gary Carter and Gary Sheffield, as well as many non-Garys, I suspect.

That's pretty ballsy (no pun intended) -- signing a ball that says "2005 Rookie Of The Year" when you're not.

A brief bio of the only named living human witness (the un-named girlfriend is another) who could truly illuminate the record on this sordid tale? It's totally material to the thread!

I had never heard about this incedent.

Love the story. Details seem exaggerated, but Mitchell being angry enough to decapitate the cat with a kitchen knife? I buy that.

I agree, but if that Rookie Of The Year thing is any indication, we cant trust this Chassky guys word for the record. That only leaves the ambiguous girlfriend. mmmmmmm.

Didn't read the Snopes account that closely. My bad.

I always believed the story for whatever reason, I voted #4.

I have no idea. No one does.

IMHO, this is the obvious way to get more info. Doc says he didn't write it so ask the only other guy who may have.

I wonder if his refusal to comment tells us anything?
