|
Ceetar Aug 01 2013 08:38 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
quick turnaround, perhaps Buck is leaving for paternity after the game and Centeno is going to NY or going with the team to NY?

He's left 5 men on through three .. could be a longggg day.
|
bmfc1 Aug 01 2013 11:30 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Ike had one good week in the minors and was recalled to the Mets. He's pretty much what he was before being sent down, with a few more walks. Tejada and JV are hitting in the minors but you don't see them recalled. The Mets should have left Satin in the lineup (remember how hot he was?) and told Ike that he needed to perform well for a month.

oo, Laggys got balls. Turns a double into a triple. I thought he was gonna be a dead duck.
|
Kong76 Aug 01 2013 11:46 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
He wobbled around second like a duck ... stranded.

Damn. Q rips one that finds a glove (almost a DP @3rd) and Matt lifts a fly out to left.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 01 2013 11:51 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Squinty's defense going down the tubes as well.
|
Zvon Aug 01 2013 11:51 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
If Qs gonna do shit like that he's become useless.
|
Zvon Aug 01 2013 11:54 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
They strand Stanton. I forgive Q.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 01 2013 12:02 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Tyrna walks, on base for the 3rd time, Wright singles, 2 on 1 out for Byrd.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 01 2013 12:04 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Unfuckingbelieveable doubleplay.
|
Zvon Aug 01 2013 12:05 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
UGH! Great diving catch in center gets Wright doubled off.

At least Ike didn't get the LOB!
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 01 2013 12:27 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
5 walks, 5 hits off this poorly educated Miami pitcher but we've hardly mounted a threat.
|
metsguyinmichigan Aug 01 2013 12:36 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
It must drive Harvey crazy that he has to throw a shutout to get a chance at a W.
|
Zvon Aug 01 2013 12:39 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
For the sake of my own sanity I need to see the Marlins strand runners on the corners with no out.

On the upside, Harvey has extra time to make his magazine shoot tonight in Miami.

Shit. Now Koehler's in line for the W, which means I'm conflicted again.

I think we'll see Travis Jankowski and Nick Tropeano at some point in the next couple of years too. And the guy we just had sign a three-year deal with the Eagles.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 01 2013 01:47 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Young tries to hit into game-ending DP but saved by his speed.

His first win at home this season. Gets it, of course, vs. the Muts.

Ashie62 Aug 01 2013 06:15 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matinee |
Eric Young is not long term OF answer... Juan Lagares is..
|
Edgy MD Aug 01 2013 06:58 PM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matine |
Can you please speak to the relative short- and long-terminess of Young and Lagares? How long do you believe Young will be productive and why? How long Lagares and why?

Not only that, but Koehler is from New Rochelle, too... he went to my daughter's HS. And he's a native NYer. And he was born in the magical year of 1986. How can i not root for this guy? Can't i get like a special dispensation under these circumstances? I throw myself on the mercy of the court.

Vic Sage Aug 02 2013 09:06 AM Re: IGT, 8/1 --- Miami Matine |

Yeah, i'm not sure i get that either. It's not like Young is old. He's 28, coming into the prime of his career, and we don't know his ceiling since he's never been given a full-time major league job, despite showing flashes in Colorado and here. Lagares is younger (24) with obvious physical tools, but his minor league production has not been extraordinary (too many Ks, not enough BBs or HRs or SBs), nor was his major league production impressive either, until about 2+ weeks ago. Sure, he has the upside of any 24-year old physically talented athlete, and i hope his current success continues, but i don't know at all that a guy who has had almost no experience above AA ball is going to have a superior career to an experienced 28-year old with some limited major-league success already to his credit.
