Seems like the Rockies are one of those teams that is either totally on fire or completely sucks, all depending on when you get 'em. We do owe them a good sweeping or three.

I think last night was the Mets first win against them in Citi Field since 2010. I know that they were swept by the Rockies in 2011, and I think the same thing happened last year.

You're right. The last time the Rockies lost a game at Citi Field had been in 2010.

Weird, 0-8 the last two seasons at Citi, but 23-4 in Queens the previous 8 seasons.

Extra fun seeing them stare down the tunnel looking for a hitter.

That used to happen back in the days when teams didn't always carry bullpen catchers, let alone sometimes two, plus a catching instructor. When a team needed their third-string catcher to pinch-hit, he had to dash through the tunnel from the pen to the dugout, not having gotten a look at the pitcher or maybe a chance to swing a weighted bat.

It's almost like he was told he was going to be on a short list in the second half and has deliberately altered his style to conserve pitches.

On an 11.57-pitches-per-inning pace. Looking now at 104.14 thru nine.

We've played so many long games this year that it's almost weird to check the scores of the other games in progress between innings and see that our game is ahead of every other one.
[crossout:2wfew8af]Nearly[/crossout:2wfew8af] seven complete innings yet still well under 2 hours. 2 hours lately has meant the top of the 5th.

Ten minutes later, the adrenaline abates and you're miserable as hell.

2-out/2-strikes and on pitch #100, Rockie batter lined a shot off Harvey's leg (looked to be just above the knee) and the ball bounded on a fly out to short RCF for a single.
Stayed in after a quick visit and one practice pitch, then got a pop out three pitches later for the final out of the game.

A pitcher is doing well if he can keep his average pitches/inning under 15.
Harvey tonight had [u:3nio2xy4]no single inning[/u:3nio2xy4] over 15 pitches.

Awesome game. Bears repeating (no matter how many times it's already been said) how enjoyable having a player like Harvey is in an otherwise lost season.

Seemed like a high fan IQ night; lots of applause for Flores' first hit, even before the scoreboard told everyone why.

Super-cool moment when the Mets honored "The Immortal" Chris Majkowski as today is the 20th anniversary of his consecutive games streak (3,209). Cake presented on camera, scoreboard recognition, the whole nine yards.

But he was standing. I dunno, I re-watched that play and its really amazin he wasn't hurt worse.

Watched the pitching side of the innings I missed and man, Harvey was simply excellent. Effortlessly. Aside from a no-no you couldnt ask for more from a pitcher. He pitched like an artist.
