Pedro Feliciano has somehow pitched 2 1/3 innings spanning four games and allowed bupkis. Only a single walk has escaped his general veil of effectiveness. His seven other batters faced have been outs, and two of them have been whiffies. He's added .3 win probability points to the team. He has inherited six runners, and allowed none of them to score.

He's done this while operating at speeds that can be referred to as
[list:169bebhg][*:169bebhg]high school.[/*:m:169bebhg]
[*:169bebhg]batting practice.[/*:m:169bebhg]
[*:169bebhg]felicitous.[/*:m:169bebhg]
[*:169bebhg]comparable to an emergency appearance by a position player.[/*:m:169bebhg]
[*:169bebhg]delectable.[/*:m:169bebhg]
[*:169bebhg]slower in delivery than a child of John Buck's.[/*:m:169bebhg][/list:u:169bebhg]

Is this at all for real?

Re: Pedro Dos

Well, sometimes even random position players throw a good 2 innings, so..

Re: Pedro Dos

Terry likes having a situational lefty, so he will lean on whoever it happens to be at the moment unless or until it stops working.

Is Rice hurt or something?

Re: Pedro Dos

All seven batters he's retired have been lefties. His lone righty has represented his lone walk.

Re: Pedro Dos

I watched his appearance yesterday and he looked good. His stuff all breaks away hard from lefties, velocity notwithstanding.

It sounds like you're leaning lucky, but I don't see your vote up there.

Which, IIRC, looked very much like a pitch-around even if not officially an IW.

The words 'small sample size' come to mind.

It may have been passed by a bicycling grandmother en route to the plate, but that lollipop to strike out Parra a few days ago looked plenty legit to me.

Sounds like a Lucky vote to me, but I'm not seeing it in the ballot box.

Too close to call.

He didn't exactly have a blazing fastball to begin with. I'd lean towards it's real though.

Re: Pedro Dos

At least, but it was a name incurred back when there were two Pedros on the staff.

Re: Pedro Dos

Surprised at how much joy the emergence of Pedro 3.0 has given me. It's like he's been warming up just out of view for three years, just waiting for the right lefty-lefty matchup.

Given his experience I'd have to say effective. Hope his luck holds up.

Re: Pedro Dos

He's been effective so far. He's done well adjusting to a reduced velocity, but the key is what happens after teams adjust to him.

June 1, 1995: Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 31st round of the 1995 amateur draft. Player signed June 11, 1995. But never played for 'em!

October 15, 2001: Granted Free Agency. Good!

November 19, 2001: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#FF0000]Cincinnati Reds. But never played for 'em!

August 15, 2002: Traded by the =#FF0000]Cincinnati Reds with players to be named later and =#BFBFFF]Elvin Andujar (minors) to the =#0000FF]New York Mets for =#BFBFFF]Shawn Estes and cash. The =#FF0000]Cincinnati Reds sent =#BFBFFF]Raul Gonzalez (August 20, 2002) and =#BFBFFF]Brady Clark (September 9, 2002) to the =#0000FF]New York Mets to complete the trade. And appeared in six games for 'em!

October 11, 2002: Selected off waivers by the =#BF8000]Detroit Tigers from the =#0000FF]New York Mets. But never played for 'em!

December 16, 2002: Released by the =#BF8000]Detroit Tigers. Suckers!

April 3, 2003: Signed as a Free Agent with the New York Mets. And appeared in 23 more games!

December 20, 2003: Granted Free Agency. What the heck?! Are you mad?! I want you re-signed within 24 hours!

December 21, 2003: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#0000FF]New York Mets. And appeared in 22 more games!

January 24, 2005: Purchased by =#800080]Fukuoka Daiei Hawks (Japan Pacific) from the =#0000FF]New York Mets. Appeared 37 games, but they DON'T COUNT! I HOPE YOU LIKED YOUR 30 PIECES OF SILVER, OMAR!

February 28, 2006: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#0000FF]New York Mets. And appeared 408 more games!

November 1, 2010: Granted Free Agency. And letting him do so was one of Sandy Alderson's first acts. Bad move, Sandy!

January 3, 2011: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#000040]New York Yankees. And appeared in zero games! Not so dumb after all, Sandy!

November 3, 2012: Granted Free Agency. Suckers!

January 21, 2013: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#0000FF]New York Mets. Thus correcting historic errors!

March 25, 2013: Released by the =#0000FF]New York Mets. Wait... what?!

March 27, 2013: Signed as a Free Agent with the =#0000FF]New York Mets. Oh... OK?! And he goes on to appear in four more games and counting!

In all, that's four (or six, depending on how you count it) tenures with the team, covering 463 games. Four other MLB organizations have had him and failed to get him into a single big league game.

Re: Pedro Dos

With that sort of..luck? Pedro would be wise to ask for a job with the Mets after retiring.
