yes, clearly we need to start molding minimm into being our enforcer. if we can turn him to our side, we can maintain our position of dominance.

Great move. Twins are great. Name me one human disaster who was a Twin. OK, besides the Krays. Name me another. Conrad and Bonar Bain. Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush, Zan and Jana. All the great ones. Twins.

are the olsen twins trainwrecks? they've kinda fallen off hte radar screen haven't they?

OE: no. no they are not trainwrecks. they are in fact very successful women, and apparently reasonable upstanding. good job, michelles.

They can be like the Rosa twins, who dominated the local running scene for ages.

Re: the miles count triple... (minimm's gonna be a big broth

So it's almost a year and a half later, and all three of your kids are ridiculously adorable.

I'm curious about the twins' personalities. I know that L is taller than R, but how would you describe what they're like? Are their similarities greater than the differences?

Re: the miles count triple... (minimm's gonna be a big broth

sorry... i totally missed this earlier!

so, despite being very nearly the same exact size at birth, and being a little hard to tell apart in some pictures, µmmL & µmmR have grown up to be fairly different little munchkins.

aside from the obvious, that µmmL is so much bigger than µmmR - about 3 inches and 4 lbs - they've just got very different personalities. and you can kinda glean that just by watching them. µmmL is a moose, and lumbers around with a purpose. he's just so big and strong, and it shows in how he moves. in terms of mets... µmmL is lucas duda, physically.

µmmR, on the other hand, just kinda flits, to and fro. with his long straight hair, and the bounce in his step, he's somewhat reminiscent of a fry guy. or maybe a really relaxed muppet. his torso is about the same size as µmmL, the size difference is all in the limbs, as you can see in the middle pic - they're wearing the same exact size shorts, there! µmmR is a full size smaller in shoes, though... with his little limbs, he doesn't really propel himself around, so much as bob and float. he's not excatly small, though. he's almost in the 90th %-ile in height. its just that his brother is so much bigger than he is. he's what i imagine david wright was like as a toddler, happily floating around with a big smile all the time, always ready with a '"hi!"

their personalities match them well. µmmR is super-easy going. not much gets him down, or frustrates him. he's naturally, effortlessly a goofball. he's also a hoarder. he loves his "me-me"s and carries them with him everywhere - first a stuffed hippo, soon after he added a stuffed panda bear, and then decided that he also needed a blanket. when he would walk in to school, he would carry all three in his arms. they're not there for security, they're there because he likes them. µmmL, is, by comparison, high strung. he gets frustrated by things, but that's also becuase he tries to do more challenging things. µmmR is happy to take a handful of food and shove it in his mouth. µmmL wants to use his fork the right way, even attempting to emulate us when we use a fork to cut through things sideways - when he can't do it, he gets upset, and will keep trying it until he gets it right, or decides the food is faulty. he has his security thumb, and his security blanket, and his security curls. if he's really upset, he'll use all three and pull a pitch-perfect linus. he's a goofball, but unlike his littler brother, he puts his all into it. he's not trying to be silly, he's really working at it!

µmmL loves to do what he sees us do; µmmR loves to do what he sees µmmL do. if L decides, "i'm going to throw my cup really far!" he'll do it, and R will look at him and think, "oh, i gues we're doing that now, ok" and will flit his cup off his high chair. if L decides, i'm going to make a silly loud yelling noise, "AAAAHHHHH!!!" R will look at him and think, "oh, i guess that's what we're doing now, ok" - and respond with a dutiful "aaahhh!" he's his own person, mind you, but he loves to follow his brother's lead.

what's been most interesting is that, for hte most part, they've managed to find their own favorites of things. L has his most favorite pair of hot wheels cars, and R has his most favorite, and they're pretty good at not stealing those from each other. they also have their own preferred books, and stuffed animals. they do still, of course, have fights over the same exact toy, when alternatives are readily available.

the boys also differ in how they handle bedtime. L is easier to put down. he's sometimes even walk over to his crib and ask to be put in it, but once he's he'll usually lie down with his blanket and his thumb, and be good. R needs a continual stream of good night kisses, and even after he gets cut off, and is in his crib, he's not ready to sleep, frequently bouncing around or playing with his toys.

L loves his daddy, and occasionally will demand that I be the one to get him ready in the morning, whereas R can go either way, leaning slightly more towards his mommy. of course, when L isn't feeling well, nothing comes close to mommy, so...

they are both afraid of dogs, but not to the extent that minimm was, and aren't as afraid as him of all other things that live and move. and they both love pretty much all the same foods.

i think their differences are highlighted by how generally similar they are, at first glance. they're more like different pages in the same chapter, rather than being flip sides of a coin. and, i think that if you averaged tehm together, you'd end up with a kid very similar to minimm...

the µmm's are two years old! how did they get so big, and where did they get such wonderful hair?

also, the boys like the mouse, so they might be good for the mister.
