Group KTE - Sandy Eggo

No one signed up for this and I don't know much about this team.
We played them the opening series of the year and won two of three.

- April 1 - Mets 11 - Padres 2
Edison Volquez walked the park and that future NYM star Colin Cowgill iced the day with a Grand Slam

- April 3 -- Mets 8 - Padres 4
Harvey 1-hits the Pads thru 7 as 'The Big Men (Ike, Buck & Duda) combine to drive in 7

- April 4 -- Pares 2 - Mets 1
Gee is good but the NYM bats get quieted by the combined efforts of perennial All-Stars Eric Stults, Brad Branch, Joe Thatcher, Dale Thayer, and Luke Gregorson. Buck HRs in the 9th off REAL all-star Huston Street for the only run.

Game 1 - Wheeler vs Ross
Friday 10:10 - Niese vs Ian Kennedy
Saturday - 8:40 - Mejia vs Volquez
Sunday - 4:10 - Harvey vs Stults

NOT on the team at the moment are SS Evreth Cabrera (PED suspension) and C Yasmani Grandal who came off PED suspension but then got hurt.

C - Nick (no relation) Hundley
1B - Yonder Alonso - who was drafted 11 spots ahead of Ike in the same year/same position. He wasn't better than Ike all along until suddenly he was.
2B - Jedd Gyrkko - A highly touted rookie with good pop for the position

Jedd's from West Virginia. His wife's name is Karley.

They have a lefty reliever named Colt Hynes. Colt is coming off an outing against the Rockies the other night where he gave up 6 runs on 6 hits in 1 inning of work.

This is the first time the Mets will play in Petco's reduced dimensions. They brought the fences in 10 or 12 feet in each gap and reduced the height of the fence in one spot, I believe. Pads are 31-27 at home.

Will Venable is their right fielder and leading HR hitter with 15. He's having his first good season at age 30.

He is even more Venable than his father Max who had just 18 HRs in his 12-year career.

Bulletin-board stuff: First baseman Yonder Alonso thinks it's cool to use a pic of him getting all fistpumpy following an HR off Niese as his Twitter background image. Only, the image is reversed and shows Niese as a righty, so the joke is on him. Also, that was a solo HR. Also, we kicked the shit out the Padres in that game.

Reserve outfielder/pinch hitter Mark Kotsay is the oldest Padre and on his second go-round with them.

Still married to her:

Re: Group KTE - Sandy Eggo

Shortstop Everth Cabrera was having a nice age-26 season, providing stellar defense and stealing 37 bases, while making significant progress in the on-base-ing and slugging departments (career-high .355 and .389, respectively). That is, until his name ended up on some lists, and others.

He's been replaced mostly by the swiftly-regressing former-prospect-now-utilityman Logan Forsythe (.204/.287/.329 over 172 PAs, in between knee injuries), of the Memphis Forsythes. (OE: And our old buddy Ronny Cedeno!)
