Kind of apropos of nothing, but I think Hank Greenberg once hit 39 home runs in Tiger Stadium--in one season.

Yup! 1938. 39 at home + 19 on road.
Tiger Stadium (under various names) was berry berry good to Hank as he hit just shy of 62% of his HRs at home (205 of 331)

Mel Ott is the main guy I think of when it comes to home-cooking domination. He hit more than 63% of his dingers at home (323 of 511)

Re: Citi Field Power Usage

Mel Ott is the main guy I think of when I think of Sheman Potter.

[list]Winchester: Colonel, what gin rummy is to games of skill, Zane Grey is to literature. Therefore, I shall counter with something civilized-- Caruso.

Potter: Enrico Caruso, the singer?

Winchester: Yes. I do believe he sings.

Potter: Nix on that. I hate opera!

Winchester: Colonel, a closed mind is an empty mind. All I ask is that you listen and I assure you you will be carried away on majestic clouds of musical rapture.

...

Potter: The guy sounds like a banshee in a bear trap.

...

Winchester: Sir, this man is one of the giants of serious music.

Potter: If I want music, I’ll send for my Tex Ritter 78s. If I want a giant, I’ll send for Mel Ott![/list:u]

I realize it's Alda-fueled second-generation M*A*S*H*, but there's something pure about watching Potter get sputtering furious.

Winchester: "While I'm not familiar with Mr. Ott's work, a cowboy crooner, even one as noteworthy as 'ol Tex' can not be mentioned in the same breath as the immortal Enrico Caruso!"

Potter: "Oh yeah, you want to compare pipes, can that Caruso fellow YODEL?"

Winchester: "Not even at gunpoint!"

Congratulations to Murph for taking sole possession of fourth place on the Citi Field HR list. David, meanwhile, works feverishly to grab a bat and extend his lead over the last two series of 2013. Until he's activated, he's just not as bold as Murph or, dare we say, Duda.

I thought that Bay would've hit his 10th home Met HR by his first Met all-star break.

Okay -- I would've adjusted my prediction some once I saw those moronic outfield dimensions that Jeff Wilpon installed in the new stadium, but still, 10? Met lifetime 10?

At the break, some movement at hand:

1. Wright 46
T2. Davis 30
T2. Duda 30
4. Murphy 17
5. Pagan 15
6. Beltran 14
T7. Hairston 13
T7. Reyes 13
9. Bay 10
10. Francoeur 9
11. Nieuwenhuis 8
T12. Byrd 7
T12. Valdespin 7
T14. C. Young 6
T14. Granderson 6
T14. Buck 6
T14. Tatis 6
T18. Recker 5
T18. Turner 5
T18. Barajas 5
T18. Sheffield 5
T22. d’Arnaud 4
T22. Brown 4

One more homer at Citi Field pushes Lucas Duda into sole possession of second place.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis one homer from taking a share of tenth place.

Chris Young and/or Curtis Granderson theoretically threaten to crowd out Jason Bay and, at last, Jeff Francoeur, depending on what Nieuwy does.

Other actives and semi-actives: Juan Lagares 2; Taylor Teagarden 1; Eric Campbell 1; Bobby Abreu 1; Eric Young 1; Omar Quintanilla 1; Jeremy Hefner 1.

Heck, he stood there and admired it. Where's the DB Braves catcher to get in his face to tell him the right way to play? He's gonna get a sand shark headed righted for his noggin in his next at-bat. Unless Shawn Estes is pitching, which means a slow-moving shark in the general direction of his butt with Bobby V fuming in the dugout.

A six-way tie for 14th place was forged during the just-completed homestand among Anthony Recker, Travis d'Arnaud, Curtis Granderson, Chris Young, John Buck and Fernando Tatis, all of whom have hit 6 home runs as Mets at Citi Field.

Marlon Byrd has 7 as a Met, 8 overall, after his home run in the wrong uniform Saturday night.
