Calendars and Cards (Split from R.A. Deserves)

TransMonk

I have a 2013 Mets mini-calendar that features RA as I flip to May.

January: Jason Bay
February: Josh Thole
April: Andres Torres

The only current Met I have looked at so far this year was Jon Niese in March.

When was this calendar published? I'd think it would have been pretty clear for a long time that Jason Bay wasn't deserving of his own month.

I bought it around the first of the year. I'm guessing they had it published for X-mas sales.

Scared this is Omar.

Blown up, it looks like an 11 on his uniform, indicating Ruben

Gee?

Yup, it was taken on No Numbers Day, apparently.

No idea. Infielder..

I'm thinking it's Red before his hair grew out.

Right, I forgot he did that. He makes the most sense (in the 'who played second/SS' game.)

I laugh at these things every year. I always look forward to the first of September to see how stupid they're going to be.

Snapfish calendars are simple to make. Zvon should whip up a contemporary one on 12/1 with some of his "KABOOM!" images and what not, market it on #MetsTwitter.

What I'm thinking we should do is put get our photogs and designers and writers together and make a set of 2013 cards just for distribution among ourselves. And then call in our lawyers when MLB and MLBPA come gunning for us.

works for me, my lawyer's a Mets fan.

wait, Cards or Calendars? I'd definitely design a card/month and contribute if we're group sourcing this venture.

Re: Calendars and Cards (Split from R.A. Deserves)

I figure we can break into some units and get this done by December holidays. W:

[list:24oddce7][*:24oddce7]Zvon can head a team of two or three posters developing a front-of-card design theme that works in print.[/*:m:24oddce7]
[*:24oddce7]Seawolf can head a team that designs the back.[/*:m:24oddce7]
[*:24oddce7]Fairy can work on coordinating photography with other photographers.[/*:m:24oddce7]
[*:24oddce7]Greg can lead a team providing editorial content for the backs.[/*:m:24oddce7]
[*:24oddce7]Somebody else can locate a wildcat cardboard printer who'll run the thing off for us without asking questions.[/*:m:24oddce7][/list:u:24oddce7]

We'll do everybody from Wright down to Vic Black. If the spirit moves us we can rope in coaches, trainers, broadcasters, and do a set in Spanish. We put our egos aside, take our modest roles to heart, and it could be inspired.

We'll have it done by mid December, and be in jail by the new year. It'll be awesome.

So, I'm detecting zero interest, then?

indeed. some of the low security places even have internet right? So you post here all day anyway. bingo.

I've been exhausted and busy with the new house, but I already have a lot of photoshopping planned in my future (I do a more complicated calendar every year) so what's a couple more?

There seems to be a couple of places to self-print them:

Re: Calendars and Cards (Split from R.A. Deserves)

I've been looking to get a community project going here (like the card thang I'm doing, more so for something to do in the off season) so yea, I'd do my part. I'm good with the making. Horrible with the marketing.

And if we don't sell them, just give then to each other, what can they do? Tell us to stop making them. By then we'll all have our sets and be the envy of the Met digital make-believe baseball card collecting online world.

It's not even November, 2013 and the 2014 Mets calendar already has an ex-Met.
