SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, AUGUST 2013

The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for August 2013 is first-time winner DILLON GEE, who also won his second consecutive (and third overall) Pitcher of the Month award. Dillon was 3-1 in August with a 2.14 ERA over six starts. Zack Wheeler finished a fairly close second, with a 2.89 August ERA and a 3-2 record in 6 starts. The leading position player was Marlon Byrd who, in his final month as a Met, hit .286/.343/.527 with 4 homers and 11 rbi. He spend the final few days of August as a Pirate, possibly costing him the extra 3.91 points he needed to win his second straight POTM award.
The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is first-time winner LATROY HAWKINS. LaTroy, who stepped in as the closer when Bobby Parnell went on the DL, had 6 saves in 13 games in August. His ERA for the month doesn't look as impressive: 5.25 in 12 innings.
The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for August is a repeat of July's winner ANDREW BROWN. Brown won easily this month. He earned 4.29 Schaefer points off the bench in August, while nobody else even earned as much as half a point.
