I know you watched the premiere last night JCL?

Anyway, I was flipping and stopped on Million Dollar Listing and stayed for Top Chef, enjoyed it a lot and hope I stay with it.

Was happy for Nina , she really saved her dish and ended up winning.Thought for sure "crying Patricia " was going to get booted but I guess Ramon iced that with his dumb move(at the time I jad no clue it was a dumb move of course, he got fairly ridiculed by the judges)

I DVR'ed it, then fell asleep on the floor as soon as I started to watch.

Need to re-do tonight.

Re: Top Chef

Sorry if I spoiled it, but I think you will agree that during the challenge it becomes clear who is winning...

Re: Top Chef

Didn't catch a spoiler in your post. I like this show but it usually suffers in the early going where there are several clowns you know have to go, and it's just a weekly slog to determine their order of elimination. Fun is when you get down to like 6.

Re: Top Chef

Damn! I can't believe I missed the season premier. Hopefully, they will air it as a lead in to the second episode next week like they have in years past.

Re: Top Chef

Did anyone make it to the end?

I was hoping for a different result in the final and I think I'd prefer the runnerup's restaurant if I had to choose to eat at one. OK season overall. Lots of Padma crammed into tight dresses and in bikinis which is good because she's become irritating to watch do anything else.

Re: Top Chef

I made it....I had a good feeling about Nina all along....was rooting for her too. I did start rooting for Nick after that arrogant French guest judge suggested he quit....FU frenchie...

Tell you what, I enjoy The Taste a lot more.....

Re: Top Chef

i joined this season late, and i preferred just about every chef i saw to the guy who won. He was a total dick, yelling at the other chefs, at the servers, as often on the bottom as on top, willing to over-complicate every dish but unwilling to season them! i hate that. He just peaked at the right time, and made a better dessert in the final.

I liked Nina alot (Italian/Carribean cuisine? wow!), but I thought the Asian chick was better than either of them, and the guy who came back (from "last chance kitchen") was better too.

What's THE TASTE?

I like Bourdain, some people hate him...anyway, i do like this format

The Taste season begins with blind auditions of both professional and amateur cooks during which four judges, who double as mentors, taste one spoonful of food from each contestant prior to knowing who cooked it or what all the ingredients are.[2][5][6][7] Each judge decides whether or not they would like the contestant on his or her team by pressing a button (green for yes or red for no); the buttons are hidden from the other judges (although some decisions are revealed to the home audience).[8][9] The four then meet the contestant and press a button to reveal their votes. If exactly one judge votes yes, that contestant automatically joins that judge's four-member team.[5][6] If more than one judge votes yes, the contestant chooses among them.[6]
Once the 16 contestants are chosen, each episode consists of team and individual challenges with various themes.[10]
In the team challenge, the contestants work for one hour with coaching from their mentors. Each mentor selects one dish to represent his or her team, which is tasted by a guest judge. The team with the best taste is rewarded with a private session with the guest judge. The mentor of the team with the worst taste must eliminate one of the team members.
In the individual challenge, the contestants work without assistance for one hour. Each episode ends with the mentors tasting all the competitors' dishes without knowing what it is, how it was prepared, who created it, or whom they will be eliminating.[10] The contestant with the worst bite of food is eliminated from the competition.[11][12]

Re: Top Chef

I watch very little TV, but I generally watch Top Chef with the wife from start to finish. I thought Nina was the most consistent chef throughout the season. She won numerous challenges and was among the top 3 virtually every week; she was on the bottom I think once all season.

Nick spent the first half of the season struggling to stay alive and narrowly missed being eliminated a few times. He seemed to peak in the final 2-3 weeks of the show. I still thought Nina deserved to win. If only she could have made a gelato for her desert, as she had planned, but she was in trouble once there wasn't an ice cream machine available to her.

I thought that Nina and Louis were the chefs that most deserved to win.

Re: Top Chef

Louis obviously played it too safe in the early going. You have to establish some kind of identity. I was surprised Tom fought so hard for Nick considering "lack of seasoning" is a fireable offense for him most of the time yet a frequent complaint of Nick. I think Tom obviously liked almost everything else about Nick -- including his propensity to douche it up. Nina in the meantime probably was viewed as less versatile and more limited though very good at what she does, so screwing up hurt her more.

I'd eat at Shirley's, Nina's and probably Carlos's too before Nick's joint, "Fussy McSaltless"
