Man Arrested For Tweeting Threats Toward Mets | Mets Merized Online

Wonder what his First Amendment bending excuse will be...

One positive thing, at least it isn't an employee of the team, that happened to a Philadelphia Phillies employee several years ago when he made scathing and threatening emails in the Phillies' organization email system!

The truly sad thing about that incident though (and why it comes to mind), is that outside the area media outlets (i.e. New York City radio) saw the term "phanatic" used and presumed that the employee in hot water was the guy who portrays the Phillie Phanatic and sad sap wannabe libertarian "hate the owners/corporation" hosts, without knowing the actual story, went on this "oh come on, he shouldn't lose his job because of some emails" mini-rant about it.

Same rant even applies when people complain that actions are taken too far against faxes/calls/emails/tweets/messages/whatever against commentators on radio/TV/print/whatever that they strongly dislike, without realizing that lines are probably crossed and there is probably more to the story than an "evil media outlet/company" "silencing critics."

One of his e-mail addresses was piazza@fan.com. Maybe he's our erstwhile wrestling fan.

Sounds more like the piazza4prez, the poor old MOFo poster that would threaten to use his beloved fully loaded Sivlerado to run over posters who disagreed with him, before having his self image surgically destroyed by marathon. That guy lived in upstate NY, though. This poor fellow is a Nutmegger.

They should probably lock him away nice and tight-- you never know when somebody like that is going to break out explosively.

I never followed that guy, but unfollowed plenty who spent as much time ragging on him as he did trolling.

Seems right out of Mom's basement central casting.

Me neither. I largely ignore most of #MetsTwitter because it's mostly trolling, it seems. I follow the writers and I follow all y'all, but not a whole lot more than that. I was thisclose to unfollowing Mets Police the other day, but there's good stuff in there sometimes.

I unfollowed MetsPolice months ago when he was begging for a round number of followers.

Re: Yup, this is what a Twitter Twat looks like!

Yeah, Twitter's a drug to the attention starved.

Daily News has him threatening Turner's girlfriend, threatening to blow up or poison the clubhouse, and encouraging other fans to assault Terry and Sandy (and waving a cape for other crazies was probably his most credible threat). That his whole act and self-identity was filmed with dated TV show and Friday the 13th references just kills me.

The only comforting thing about that report is that they gave us the full name and address of that cretin so we can avoid him.

Creep threatened to skin Mets manager, GM alive

By Mike Puma, Christina Carrega-Woodby and Natalie O'Neill
October 23, 2013 | 1:06pm

A creepy baseball fan obsessed with horror movies was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly threatened Mets players — and plotted to slash a team manager in a “Friday the 13th”-style attack.

Aryn Leroux, 42, of West Haven took to Twitter for a violent tirade against Mets reliever LaTroy Hawkins and the team’s GM Sandy Alderson and manager Terry Collins — who he threatened to skin alive, according to law enforcement sources and his own Twitter page.

“Tomorrow is Friday the 13th… lets get a gang of us to wear Jason Vorhees masks to Citi-Field and go skin us a GM-Owner-Manager,” Leroux Tweeted on Sept 12.

“Think of it… it would be the lead story on CNN…. #mets fans kill the team owner-gm-manager. before they kill us #selfdefense,” he proclaimed before taking it one disturbing step further.

“What are some good ways to dispose of Wilpon-Alderson-Collins, any ideas? …there will be a blood bath at Citi-Field tomorrow night,” he tweeted.

The horror movie buff also hatched an elaborate plan to sneak into the team clubhouse and hide bombs in every player’s cleats, a team source told The Post.

NYPD officers and West Haven police arrested Leroux in Connecticut and charged him with misdemeanor threatening and breach of peace, law enforcement sources said.

Leroux also threatened to blow up Citi Field and has repeatedly harassed fans and players, earning a reputation as a much-loathed Twitter troll, sources said.

Hawkins called him a real threat to the team.

“The guy is a bad person. On Twitter he made some threats that can’t be tolerated in this day and age, ” he told the Post.

The horror movie buff also harassed utility infielder Justin Turner, sources said.

Law enforcement sources declined to give specifics about the ways in which he had threatened players.

Leroux uses the handle @danxtanna — but his account was pulled down on Wednesday afternoon.

His Twitter bio describes him as a “Mets-Cowboys-Celtics-Rangers-Uconn” fan and “Horror Movie Buff.”

The Queens District Attorney’s office helped identify Leroux’s Twitter account, which was registered under his father’s name, law enforcement sources said.

Leroux posted $2,500 bail and is awaiting arraignment in Milford.

Hawkins, who is active on social media, recently tweeted about Leroux, urging Twitter users to block him.

“Let’s block and report as spam and shut him up for awhile @danxtanna he want to do bodily harm on our team.”

The arrest comes one day after Giants running back Brandon Jacobs revealed on Twitter that he had received a death threat.

Yeah, did you see/read about the backtracking that guy who Twitter-threatened Jacobs was doing?
As soon as he got outed, his anger over losing fantasy points was suddenly replaced by an even worse pain: the one where his hero publicly trashes over social media.

Deadspin Article"]What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla (sic) warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo. Today 4:57pm
