There's just too many things to say about Friday, and too many songs to honor it. It's a day of liberation, but also a day to get crucifixions out of the way, before the Sabbath. If you're Muslim, well, then, it is the Sabbath, so as-salamu alaykum to our Muslim sisters and brothers on this day. Catholics didn't eat meat, but then they did, and the bottom dropped out of the fish market in the Northeast. And believe me, Mrs. Paul is PISSED.

It's unlucky for a sailor to begin a voyage on that day, and unlucky for anybody to do anything at all, if it's the 13th of the month, but if you're a Texas high school football player, it's the only night that matters.

Listen, there's too many Friday songs. A lot of them objectively good. Good songs from surprising sources too. I have about 50 here. Friday just brings out the best in people. So I'm going to stick to 9 or 10 in this post and then post 10 more next week and so on. Please vote for one of these, forgive the duds, vote again next week. If your favorite song isn't here this week, it'll be here next. Or maybe the week after. And may your Good Fridays and Black Fridays and Casual Fridays and Freaky Fridays all be pleasant.

Looks like I'll have to hold off my voting until Book 2, unless I can vote for that FNL intro.

Later

Quite the pile of... stuff.

The "Friday Face" one isn't too bad, with the spacey dub geniality vibe it's got. And "Friday Night on a Dollar Bill" I almost picked despite myself.

But, yeah, JJ Cale, I suppose. And, yes, waiter, I'm done-- you can take the rest away. Now.

That was indeed my vote, FNL not withstanding.

Re: The Friday Files (Book One)

The Mets have played 74 postseason games, but only three on a Friday. They are 1-2. Beat the Diamondbacks in '99; lost to the Braves in '99; lost to the Cards in '06. All were at Shea.
