Re: Round One, Game Three (2013-14 CPKP)

IKE DAVIS IN A TRADE

Ike Davis in a trade
The plan that the Mets had made
They had Lucas Duda
As well as Josh Satin
They could make a deal

You know that Ike had worn
Out his welcome
The or-ganiza-tion...
It had soured
Sandy glowered —

At Ike
He lost faith in Ike
’Cause he’d strike out far
Too much

They’d make fans think
That Ike likes his drink
Spreading accu-saaaa-tions
And such

They’d weave their web of Ike
At Rubin’s online site
They’d make it clear this kid
Was no David Wright

And when his average ebbed
While his power’d fade
They would work to include
Ike Davis in a trade

Ike Davis in a trade
The best of Met plans mislaid
They talked to Milwaukee
And called on the Pirates
Yet through the months Ike stayed

Another year of hearing
“Start Me Up”
It appears that the Mets are stuck
With Ike Davis...
Late of Vegas...

Ike —
Won’t someone take Ike?
So his days here soon
Are done

We won’t ask a lot
And accept he’ll get hot
Driving home a-noooo-ther
Team’s runs

Ike’s wilting on the block
As spring grows near
“The market remains stable”
Is the GM’s fear

He doesn’t care at all
For Ike’s ingrained approach
Why must this young first baseman
Be so hard to coach?

Slugger on the cheap
They’ll ship him off to you
And perhaps they’ll put the savings
Toward Stephen Drew...

The no-show was a wise person. I don't think this would have been topped.

Can the poll be modified to show which one is the
forfeited one? It's tied as I type.

VOTING

18. Each head to head matchup will receive its own unique thread. Voting in each first round head to head contest will end 48 hours after it is posted to the forum. If, after the 48 hour voting period, a matchup is tied, the voting period will be extended for approximately 24 hours.

Personally, I think that the neck and neck vote tally of this match-up should bring out a heavy turnout among voters.

There's only one song, two posters (at time of my posting)
voted for a forfeited song.

The winner of this matchup will advance to the next round; the loser won't. Fair is fair.

Vote wisely.

Would you like to cast more than one vote in this particular matchup? Why don't we just ditch the whole voting system and have you decide who gets to advance to the quarterfinals?

Eerie similarity between "choices" will probably clear matters up before long.

No, I would like the poll choices to differentiate between
which 'songs' we are voting for. Don't make this a thing, just
please fix it or explain.

How do I know you're not the one making this into a thing?

Re: Round One, Game Three (2013-14 CPKP)

Let me boil this down, not that it's really needed:

Ike Davis in a Trade/Ike Davis/Neil Diamond: Longfellow Serenade -- the real entry
Ike Davis in a Trade/Ike Davis/Neil Diamond: Longfellow Serenade -- the forfeited one

How can we tell which is which?

Oh, it's needed. Do you think that two head to head contestants wrote the exact same parody of Neil Diamond's Longfellow Serenade, titled Ike Davis in a Trade? With identical lyrics? And then I ruled that one of the two contestants forfeited, even though he submitted a parody exactly like the one his opponent submitted? And then I posted this thread so that voters could decide which of two identical parodies is the better one?

What do you think is going on here?

bmlo, just pause up a minute.
Does anyone else not understand my point? I don't know if
I'm voting for a song or a forfeited spot.

It's not rocket science.

I don't think you're funny. I'm sure some do.
Thanks for moderating the contest, just think it would
have been easier to just say, 'forfeit.' or whatever.

I know you don't think I'm funny. I especially realized it after this latest exchange, about a half an hour ago.. You just don't get me. That's why you write posts to me in the manner that you do. I don't get you. I don't see how anyone would think they might be voting for a forfeited song. What forfeited song? Where is the forfeited song that you thought you might've voted for? The two choices at the top of this poll are identical. I did say "forfeit". That's what the huge stencil style lettering at the top of the thread is for.

So now you're gonna punish the contestant who did submit his song by not voting for him? If the disqualified contestant wins this matchup by one vote, you'll have yourself to blame.

So the thread with the least number of songs generates the most replies.
