I suspect they (the pitchers themselves) would argue that a helmet is too hot, too heavy, too cumbersome.

It's like the Great Gazoo helmet David was wearing when he came back from his beaning. The technology will evolve and won't look like this eventually. I'm betting in a few years they'll have something that's virtually indistinguishable from a regular cap.

The consensus of pitchers asked today..including Happ & McCarthy are that the protective hats are uncomfortable, hot and "uncool."

Batting helmets were uncomfortable and uncool for a while too.
