Grammys IGT

OK, so far:

Beyonce and hubby.

Lorde lipsynching with black fingertips

Katy Perry pretending to be a witch.

A guy dressed like C-3P0 and his buddy getting an award with a guy wearing the Arby's hat.

Chicago rocking a medley before it was ruined by Robin Thicke sans Miley

Keith Urban

JT's Target ad was better than some of the acts.

Johnny Legend was a nice mellow performance.

Paul McCartney beats the Stones for best rock song.

Pink is auditioning for Cirque de Soleil!

Then she gets dressed and hangs out with the guy from Fun.

Ozzy is incoherent as Black Sabbath minus Bill Ward introduces Ringo.

Jamie Foxx was more coherent than Ozzy, but made less sense.

Kendrick Lamar has ruined Radioactive, but there are a lot of drums of varying sizes on stage.

Am'n I the only one who thinks it sounds all wrong when fans (particularly American) discuss their favorite British rock stars and actors and affix their royal titles in front of them?

I've seen Pink in concert - the woman is truly amazing!

Lord Sutch introduced Miley Cyrus onto the stage. She delivered the next award while sticking her tongue all the way out.

It was really cool to see two Beatles playing together -- but I wish they had played a Beatles song.

Miley Cyrus stuck her tongue out 45 more times, just in case anybody didn't notice her tongue the first 44 times she stuck it out.

Hawkeye -- the under-appreciated Avenger -- introduces old country guys.

Steven Tyler, in the audience, is starting to take on a Keith Richards-like appearance of ragged near-death.

OK, that Stevie Wonder Daft Punk thing was pretty cool!

Re: Grammys IGT

Lorde herself didn't lipsynch; she sang to a backing track. Good song but just doesn't work live.

Pink, on the other hand: hard to believe she was singing when doing the trapeze routine. Great performer regardless.

McCartney/Starr underwhelming on so many levels. Ringo barely playing.

Some of the best performances were the pure music ones: Swift, Sara Barellies/Carole King.

Chicago/Thicke was truly abysmal. Just awful on all levels.

Not sure what to think of the Kendrick Lamar/Vampire Weekend thing. Better if they had just done their own songs individually.

Love the Daft Punk song. Stevie Wonder totally unnecessary.

The tribute was pretty neat. Can't say I expected Billy Joe Armstrong to be part of that. He's the Green Day guy, right?

I dunno. I got it on but pretty much just listening. She sounded a little off at times. Whoever those last two were (one was the Green Day guy I think), they just butchered the Everly Brothers song.

I did watch this, and that string thing was an awesome performance.

Big Beatle fan but this was the high point for me so far.

OOO, this could change that.

Perhaps both.

Re: Grammys IGT

That was the end? Then no change. Daft punk had me moving my hips. I loved the addition of the song from Songs In The Key Of Life at the end. It just blended right into it.

And that's Stevie Wonder, G! He goes good with anything.
I hope Daft Punk was thrilled to their circuit boards to be on the same stage with Stevie.

Caught the last hour or so. I actually liked "One" with the Chinese piano dude.

I saw the trainwreck of Robin Thicke with Chicago and turned it off then and there. Let me guess -- Dave Grohl got some exposure.

Re: Grammys IGT

I DVR'd the thing and watched it all in about 20 minutes.

I was only really interested in the end and that was the biggest rip off of the night with the edits and the cutoff. What was the point of even having Lindsey Buckingham there?

I'm glad Daft Punk won a bunch of awards. I'm not a big fan, but at least I knew who they were 15 years ago unlike many of the nominees.

Paul McCartney and Nirvana winning an award for that song that they basically made up on the spot for that movie proved that some artists could fart into a microphone and still win a Grammy.

He did sort of hog the mic when he, McCartney, Novoselic, and the other guy won their award.

I liked the Kendrick Lamar/Imagine Dragons mashup. I don't think Radioactive is my favorite of their songs, but that mashup worked.

I know that JayZ/Beyonce are supposed to be the First Couple of pop culture, but I thought their performance sucked.

I don't know too much about Imagine Dragons, but the guitar player plays a guitar made by a friend of mine in Des Moines...so that was cool to see.

The guitar player on Saturday Night Live plays one too. Lots of pub lately for them.

The McCartney/Nirvana song sucks... It sounds as if it was written in 5 minutes but it ain't "Satisfaction."
