Memories of Aaron Harang

The Mets needed a serviceable arm to throw them toward the end of the 2013 schedule and Aaron Harang's was just that. Didn't contribute as much as Aaron Heilman. Didn't do as much damage as Aaron Heilman. Probably not the most consequential of the Aaron H.'s who have graced Met pitching staffs.

Aaron's a longtime Red that I always think of as a longtime Cardnial. Conflating him with Jeff Suppan or somebody.

That was 2013 that he was with the Mets? Wow! My memories of him are so dim I would have guessed it wasn't nearly so recent.

Aaron Harang was a Met?! I have zero recollection of that. Even with the photographic evidence in this thread, I still checked b-r because I didn't believe you.

Declining and/or released veteran pitchers who hadn't gotten enough innings to hurt themselves during the regular season and therefore are superior to September call-ups are the new market inefficiency.

Pitched modestly effictively --- certainly better than he did with Seattle. But his 5.76 ERA with the Mariners added up to a 5-11 record. His four-start, 3.52 ERA run with the Mets left him 0-1, but all the games were certainly winnable. Struck out 10 against Washington in his first start, and the Nats weren't quite so strike-out-able in 2013 as the Mets were.
