We have three possible aces in the system. Obviously they are going to finish 1-2-3 in Cy Young voting for the next 15 years, but which of them will be the best?

Put your prediction on record NOW!!!!

(or feel free to write in Montero/Niese/Mejia/Gee whatever)

Re: Best of the Best

I think it's exciting to think about those three guys in the rotation! I also hope we can get them some offense.

I wonder if Harvey had been healthy and this was THE YEAR, whether Thor would have come north or whether they still would have kept him down to delay arbitration.

He's thrown 54 innings in AA and 0 in AAA

so probably would be in the minors regardless.

I have no idea. I'm hoping it's not Harvey, because I think he's the one least likely to be a long-term Met.

Noah.

My jury's out on Harvey until he returns from rehab. I also echo Ben's fear of him jumping ship at first chance, but if he recovers fully, he should still give the Mets some quality years.

Barring injury, I already LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our 2015-2016 rotation.

I like that kid, Cy Burnbaum. He'll make us forget Harvey.

The paradox being that if you understand that it's always where you least expect it, then you expect it there, and it can't be there.

Re: Best of the Best

Harvey's pitched to his potential while the others haven't yet, and the long-term downside of TJS is really not that big at this point. He's still the safest bet.

I remember Dave Proctor specifically because he appeared in the 1989 Bowman set.

Dude had a 4.21 ERA and 45 walks in 68 innings in low-A in 1988, so that was a smart call by Topps.

Re: Best of the Best

The success rate of Mets 1st round pitching prospects is not something to excite us. About 1 out of 5 became top-of-the-rotation starters in the majors for any sustained period. Of course, the fact that we traded for OTHER teams' top prospects in Wheeler and Syndergaard helps their chances of making it.

Went with Harvey, thought "Syndergard" as soon as it was too late.

What this guy said. Smart guy.

I get the doomsaying mentality, I suppose, given our prospect history. I suppose that if I worry about any of the three, Wheeler's it, mostly because of the command issues. But Harvey's a bulldog who's done it for a year-and-a-half at the highest level, and Syndergaard's got very good stuff AND excellent control. Barring freakish injuries, I'm a believer.

That's what I did too, although I lingered over the Syndergaard button for a while.

And today what we saw from Wheeler. He was only gonna go 2 but had thrown so few pitches he went out for another. And Syndergaard and Fammy the other day. I will allow myself to get excited. L'il bit.

And in todays game what impressed me most about Zack was his interview. He is a very mature & focused individual. I wanna change my vote!

Well, Steve Phillips said that the Mets will probably keep Familia because of his sinker ball, in case there are times during the season when you need a double play ball with men on base. But what are the odds of that?

If he can find a way to get a double play ball when the bases are empty, then you'd really have something!
