Crazy Day on Jupiter

Mets lose and retake the lead 4 times, win it 9-8 with a tiebreaking Zach Slutzzzz home run off Trevor Rosenthal.

Socolovich makes it stick despite walking the first two guys in the bottom of the 9th -- first out on a reviewed sac-bunt force out at third.

Also: Niuewenhuis with a three-run homer. denDekker and Quintanilla with key RBI hits.

Niese was bad 2 IP, 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, Valverde gave up 2 runs in 1 ip, Montero 2IP, 1 ER

Nieuwenhuis's power really tends to show up in dramatic spots, doesn't it?

Lutz, though... the world has passed him by even more than Nieuwie. Both of them certainly showed Vegas pop

Re: Crazy Day on Jupiter

This game was broadcast on the MLB Network and I watched it while telecommuting today. The announcers were clearly St. Louis homers, but, it made for good viewing during the work day.

I can't say I noticed him either way. I mostly looked up for the hitting, which was plentiful.

I think not noticing Flores in the field probably counts as a victory for Flores in the field. (OE: Flores agrees.)

I caught a couple of grainy Valverde minutes on the Armed Forces Network in Germany. I have to report he looks crappy from this continent, too. Gehen wir Mets.
