Happy St.Patrick's Day to all yo lovely lads and lassies. I often face this day with some trepidation , anyway once again there is controversy, the new mayor refuses to march because it excludes gays....yet out PM will march....Bloomberg always marched saying while he did not agree with a ban on gay etc. he wanted to celebrate Irish heritage...here is a fascinating article from Fintan O'Toole on the parade and why it really is a catholic parade. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics ... -1.1719160

O'Toole isn't really being honest there. Gay people aren't banned from the parade. Clearly, thousands have marched. Groups marching under a gay banner and advancing a gay platform are indeed excluded. While one may well object to that, it's a meaningful difference.
