I think "Smoke on the Water" would be a good starter.

I'd guess a few Gregorian Chants should be on the list.

EDIT: correced some obvious spelling mistakes.

For that matter, the (Gren)Delfonics. In olden times, pretty sure Green Day was spelled Gren Del.

Don't get the DVD of Annie Hall. Woody Allen specifically advises Diane Keaton not to take any course where they make you read Beowolf.

The Old English prof with the office next to mine (she's only in her fifties, it''s the English that's Old) has a gigantic poster on her door screaming BEOWULF (like that's really going to attract students to come and chat with her), and every time I see it (4 to 47 times per day, that is) I think (like Jerry with the Pufffy Shirt and the Pirates) "But I don't WANNA be a wolf." (This is the final parenthesis in this paragraph.) (I lied.)

Chaucer's greatest hits should be a nice addition.

Sadly, Beowulf probably gets down to ABBA, Ace of Base and Roxette.
