Party Music

I'm now working on the music we'll have at the Bar Mitzvah reception. I'm looking for suggestions about the music. Not obligatory things (like The Hora), but just the general party music. What songs are extremely good in such environments? What songs suck?

The bar mitzvahs I went to featured "Another Brick in the Wall" and "Call Me." Try those.

My son was just at a bat mitzvah. He is of the opinion that every kid, black or white, likes "Another One Bites the Dust." He requested it of the DJ and it was the biggest hit of the affair.

So far, so good. I'll show this thread to the Bar Mitzvah boy at some point and consult with him about the suggestions. Thanks :)

At my wedding reception the song that got everyone up and dancing was "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits. Not a bad song, I just never would have guessed that it would be a crowd pleaser. I think a good party needs to have James Brown's "Sex Machine" and "Lets go Crazy" by Prince.
When I was kid everybody thought Queen sucked BHMC. You Cranepoolers are the first people I ever met who like Queen. Sometimes I think you all live in a parrallell universe.

Scarlett, We'd bet that before this is all done, the song that best describes you will be "19th Nervous Breakdown" by the Stones.

It's too bad you missed my wedding, you would have added much to the dance floor (and I don't mean the farts).
