CPF Annual Spring Training Meeting
KC Jan 06 2006 01:53 PM |
It's time to start thinking about the annual cpf meeting again, boys and girls.
sharpie Jan 06 2006 02:09 PM |
I'm outta town the weekends of Feb 18-19 and 25-26. School is out in NY (and NJ I think) so I would think it might be hard on a lot of people those weekends. Howabout the weekend of March 4-5?
ScarletKnight41 Jan 06 2006 02:12 PM |
I'm good any weekend past President's Day. I'm supposed to run a 5K on March 18, but I can skip that in favor of meeting up with you guys. March 25 is bad for D-Dad, but I can make it that day.
TheOldMole Jan 06 2006 04:24 PM |
Don't suppose you'd consider having it upstate?
Willets Point Jan 06 2006 04:34 PM |
In all likelihood I won't be able to attend due to the travel involved, but if youse agree upon a date I'll see if I can make it.
seawolf17 Jan 06 2006 04:52 PM |
Later in March is better for me, with baby due in mid-February. Perhaps MiniWolf will even join us, if he's up to it.
Edgy DC Jan 06 2006 05:05 PM |
I'm in Boston March 1-5 for our Annual Conference.
KC Jan 06 2006 05:14 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jan 07 2006 06:33 PM |
Mid to late March is best for me too.
ScarletKnight41 Jan 06 2006 05:23 PM |
Kase - that's a great idea for a summer weekend.
soupcan Jan 06 2006 07:22 PM |
If you make it in late in March sometime I might just be tempted to swing by.
ScarletKnight41 Jan 07 2006 12:40 PM |
March 4th is now a bad day for me.
TheOldMole Jan 07 2006 01:15 PM |
We could do it at Mohonk.
Rockin' Doc Jan 07 2006 05:52 PM |
I must be sick. I briefly started checking my schedule to see if I could attend and make a weekend of it. Then I came to my senses and realized that it's roughly a 10 hour drive to New York.
Edgy DC Jan 07 2006 06:16 PM |
Heavy agreement on the idea of a gathering at Opus 40.
cooby Jan 07 2006 10:17 PM |
Wow, and I was discouraged by a measly 4 hour drive
Willets Point Jan 07 2006 11:58 PM |
Let's meet at Cooby's house! Yuenglings and Lebanon baloney for all!
TheOldMole Jan 08 2006 12:56 AM |
You'll all be welcome.
seawolf17 Jan 08 2006 10:15 AM |
Very nice of Mole to welcome us all to Cooby's house.
cooby Jan 08 2006 10:22 AM |
He's doing the cooking
Johnny Dickshot Jan 08 2006 10:59 AM |
late march is good.
TheOldMole Jan 08 2006 01:28 PM |
I'll bring lots of chips and dip.
Rockin' Doc Jan 08 2006 11:56 PM |
Well, if Mole is cooking at least there won't be any Lebanon Bologna Crepes.
Vic Sage Jan 09 2006 02:20 PM |
There is a place on 7th ave, around 48th St, called TONIC, aka THE MET LOUNGE, and its got pretty good pub food with alot of big screen TVs tuned to sports. They've got a 2nd floor with an area good for large groups.
sharpie Jan 09 2006 02:45 PM |
Sunday is the 19th. I've been to Tonic for a corporate party. Not a bad space but I didn't get to try their usual food.
Vic Sage Jan 09 2006 05:54 PM |
their food is slightly-above-average bar food.
KC Jan 09 2006 07:17 PM |
3/19 is perfect for me and I'm cool with trying Tonic - since it's two months
ScarletKnight41 Jan 09 2006 07:23 PM |
March 19 works for me.
Willets Point Jan 09 2006 11:04 PM |
I have an obligation on March 19th so I can't come. Otherwise, I'd love to come down and make a weekend of it and go to the parade on Friday. Alas.
Johnny Dickshot Jan 09 2006 11:23 PM |
3/19, Tonic. See yas there
ScarletKnight41 Jan 10 2006 07:12 AM |
IIRC, we met on March 19th last year also.
sharpie Jan 10 2006 08:49 AM |
As of now 3/19 sounds good.
seawolf17 Jan 10 2006 09:18 AM |
Count me in for now, pending any baby-related responsibilities.
Lundy Jan 11 2006 11:33 AM |
Pencil me in as well.
metirish Jan 11 2006 09:56 PM |
I'd love to go, I might have a friend visiting form Tipperary for the week but if not I'll be at Tonic.
ScarletKnight41 Jan 11 2006 10:03 PM |
Bring your friend. It's a long way from Tipperary - he could use the diversion.
A Boy Named Seo Jan 11 2006 10:07 PM |
Holy crap, I had a couple of $7 beers in that bar last summer. This is the place right?
Willets Point Jan 11 2006 10:08 PM |
Can you imagine it the other way around? You go visit your friend in Ireland and he says "Hey, Sunday we're going down to the pub to hang out with these people I know from the internet to talk about our favorite hurling club." That would certainly be a diversion.
metirish Jan 11 2006 10:10 PM |
HAHAHA...true, I'm sure he would love to meet everyone, as would I.$7 beers?,well it's NYC.
KC Jan 11 2006 10:19 PM |
I can live with 20 oz pints of something good for $7, but if it's $7 bottles of
Rockin' Doc Jan 11 2006 11:29 PM |
I can generally get two pitchers of Yuengling, Tecate or Dos Equis for $7 at my favorite Mexican restaurant. No wonder I need to lose weight.
sharpie Jan 12 2006 08:40 AM |
Irish, if the two of us go to Tonic we can talk about the Pogues show of a few nights earlier.
Johnny Dickshot Feb 15 2006 01:20 PM |
Bumpity.
KC Feb 15 2006 03:18 PM |
Yes, 3/19, 12:30 ish.
KC Mar 07 2006 08:54 AM |
I guess we should start thinking about a head count to determine whether
KC Mar 07 2006 05:53 PM |
Oh well - I tried.
Edgy DC Mar 07 2006 06:21 PM |
I'm feeling good about it. Spouses coming?
seawolf17 Mar 07 2006 06:25 PM |
Depends on MiniWolf. Put me as a veeeery tentative yes.
KC Mar 07 2006 06:46 PM |
Tentative yes penciled in for the father of the 2028 Mets phenom hurler.
Vic Sage Mar 08 2006 01:49 PM |
hey, kc
KC Mar 08 2006 01:53 PM |
Cool, The Diamond's will have few in tow too.
ScarletKnight41 Mar 08 2006 01:53 PM |
Excellent Vic - I know a young lady who is dying to meet you (and I can't wait to see your little ones again <g>).
Vic Sage Mar 08 2006 01:55 PM |
not so little anymore...
sharpie Mar 08 2006 02:08 PM |
Put me down as a probable. I'll know more next week.
KC Mar 09 2006 08:18 PM |
Anyone else wanna chime in here or via PM? I know some people don't like
Frayed Knot Mar 09 2006 11:39 PM |
I'm in
KC Mar 12 2006 08:51 AM |
We poked our heads in yesterday, looks like a good joint - nice tap selelction.
seawolf17 Mar 12 2006 09:56 AM |
I'm out... we'll catch y'all at the ballpark this summer.
ScarletKnight41 Mar 12 2006 10:32 AM |
seawolf - you have to change that avatar. I think you're JD when I see that.
TheOldMole Mar 12 2006 11:48 AM |
I'm out...not that I've ever made one, but I keep hoping. We're leaving the next day for a Spring Break cruise.
KC Mar 13 2006 08:38 AM |
Sorry to keep buggin' youse, but I got an email that I got a PM but no PM.
Johnny Dickshot Mar 13 2006 09:19 AM |
I'll be there. Not sure about any guests.
Edgy DC Mar 13 2006 10:52 AM |
I got an email that I had a PM when I didn't this morning also.
ScarletKnight41 Mar 13 2006 11:56 AM |
If someone PMs you, and then deletes it from his/her Sent box before you read it, you won't be able to get the message.
metirish Mar 15 2006 11:19 AM |
I won't be going, I have a Doctor's appointment Monday that I can't miss.
sharpie Mar 15 2006 11:22 AM |
Why would a lunch on Sunday cause you to miss a doctor's appointment on Monday?
Rotblatt Mar 15 2006 11:25 AM |
Put me down as a tentative--I should be able to make it, but I'm not 100%positive yet.
Lundy Mar 17 2006 09:28 AM |
I'm sorry that I haven't been able to commit to this yet. Problem is finding a babysitter (my wife is working on Sunday) for my soon-to-be three year old. I might be able to pull it off, but it doesn't look promising at this point. I hope to be there.
Vic Sage Mar 17 2006 09:52 AM |
so what's the count, at this point?
Edgy DC Mar 17 2006 10:06 AM |
I may have to pull out. I'll keep you up to date.
Rotblatt Mar 17 2006 10:12 AM |
I'm a definite now, and I'll be by myself.
KC Mar 17 2006 10:18 AM |
Count is 15-20. They said we don't need reservations for early Sunday. Let's
Vic Sage Mar 17 2006 10:32 AM |
Order some Shirley Temples for my kids!
KC Mar 17 2006 10:51 AM |
I thought of that, he said just tell whoever that we're expecting a group and
Vic Sage Mar 17 2006 11:37 AM |
yes, the wings are pretty good!
Frayed Knot Mar 18 2006 07:03 PM |
I'm iffy for Sunday's lunch.
Edgy DC Mar 18 2006 08:50 PM |
Definitely out.
Frayed Knot Mar 19 2006 10:32 AM |
Also out.
ScarletKnight41 Mar 19 2006 04:28 PM |
It was a nice time at Tonic, despite the late scratches. In attendance were -
KC Mar 19 2006 06:35 PM |
Always good to see CPFr's in person - and great meeting new ones in Rot-
ScarletKnight41 Mar 19 2006 07:03 PM |
Tonic was also within striking distance of Colony Music, which is La Diva's music store of choice (the selection of showtune sheet music boggles the mind!).
ScarletKnight41 Mar 19 2006 07:56 PM |
Hey - remember the interview we were watching during the Mets game, and we all thought the guy looked scarily like Art Howe?
Rotblatt Mar 19 2006 08:00 PM |
Thanks to everyone for your hospitality! It was nice putting faces to names, and you all have lovely families!.
ScarletKnight41 Mar 19 2006 09:18 PM |
Thanks Rotblatt - it was great meeting you too :)
Vic Sage Mar 20 2006 10:00 AM |
sorry that the riders of the purple Sage Clan had to hit the trail so quickly, but little Miss Sage had a rehearsal to get to, and little Mr. Sage jr was getting extremely antsy.
sharpie Mar 20 2006 10:05 AM |
It only went on about 15 minutes more. Lenny Harris and I both had a swell time. He was a last minute attendee (his Mets shirts were dirty so a shout-out to the Ramones was the best option). The Mets game coming on to the TV above the table was a plus.
Vic Sage Mar 20 2006 10:13 AM |
i wish they'd put that on a little earlier. My daughter didn't want to leave, just so she could watch a pre-season game!
cooby Mar 21 2006 08:51 AM |
No event pictures this year?
ScarletKnight41 Mar 21 2006 09:06 AM |
Not this year - you'll just have to rely on the descriptions and accounts of the meal.
cooby Mar 21 2006 09:07 AM |
Wow, flashbacks to Lindsey Nelson
