Swapping Curty Pants and Murphy? Made me wonder why TC didn't just swap Granderson with Duda.

Per Rubin: "Collins decided against moving Lucas Duda to cleanup, saying that he didn't want to overwhelm Duda in the same week where the Mets cleared out first base for him by trading Ike Davis to the Pirates."

Seems Terry is more concerned with coddling his players rather than putting them in the best position to win ballgames. Duda will make more than $1.6M this season. Overwhelm him.

That's how you go 55 plate appearances and only rack up 1 K & 2 BBs
All last season he had all of 40 &55 while coming to bat nearly 700 times

Of course if we don't score until the second week of May or so (and our next run may not even come that quick) none of this is going to matter.

Lots of free baseball today.
Brewers & Pirates are in the 12th in Pittsburgh (following another near brawl involving Carlos Gomez - pitchers don't seem to like that dude) and the Yanx & Rays are heading to the 11th

Nationals got a 9th inning GW Sac Fly to avoid extras with the Cardinals.

I wasn't doubting that he could be effective, I just thought that (1) if you burn your whole pen, you want your longest guy available last, and (2) if they are going to have anybody available tomorrow, it should be Matsuzaka, as Mejia might not answer the bell.

Terry has indicated maybe getting decker into the mix a little more often. He didn't put a specific on it but maybe one game in three or one in four instead of the usual one in six.

Twas nice of them to play this many innings on a day that I had to drive from Baltimore to Syracuse. Kept me engaged via Howie/Josh/XM, nicely.
