Starting catcher Wilin Rosario is day-to-day with a hand contusion. If he can grip the bat, he gets the call. A squat, chubby-cheek'd Dominican, Wilin has solid Coors Field power, is a good bet for 20-25 homers, and loves to hit lefties. Hits .250-.256 and gets his share of strikeouts. He's got a strong arm but is considered mechanically weak as a catcher. (In fact, Rockies fans and their press hate his catching game.) If he can't go, Jordan Pacheco will. Patch is a fringey guy with a goofy grin and a solid stick who, as a catcher, makes a nice firstbaseman. Still, chixx dig the backup catcher. That would be former Twin (and Pirate) Justin Morneau manning first base, who's having somewhat of a resurgence in the thin Denver air. .343/.367/.618 .985 OPS with 6 HR He's signed through next season with an option year after that.
