Should the Mets take a shot at him?
Is there a reason NOT to?

I think offering him money would probably be more effective.

Their scouts may see something different than that reporter did.

His asking price may be disproportionate to his estimated value.

If he threatened to take a shot at Mr. Met.

Re: Hanrahan?

Well there was no reason not to check out his throwing session, but 19 other teams sent people too. There aren't too many teams who wouldn't make room for Hanrahan in their pen if he's all the way back. And it only takes one of the teams to think Hanrahan's asking price isn't disproportionate to his value.

Re: Hanrahan?

Keep in mind, his asking price (whatever it is) comes with a good amount of risk, and-- at most-- a half-season of production attached.

He's put up one superlative season and two other good ones (and one good-by-some-measures one) in seven. Putting it another way, he's had more seasons-- including the last two-- when his walk rate was 4.5 or higher than he's had decent ones. If that price is anywhere north of $800K-1M plus incentives, the Mets should pass... and I'm not sure he's worth that, considering our team's station.
