IGT 5/7, Mets vs. Marlins
Edgy MD May 06 2014 07:42 PM |
Zack Wheeler puts his 5.13 ERA on the line against Tom Koehler, whose ERA is less than half that. At least I think it is. I didn't go to Stony Brook, so I don't know.

Looks like you misspelled "eight shutout innings from TK and then a crapton of Met runs in the ninth off the pen" there.

Koehler being just as good and as efficient as Wheeler.

It then takes him 50 pitches just to get through innings 4 & 5 - but the scoreboard is still unblemished so it's OK. Would have been nice, though, had he not walked Mathis w/2 outs and left himself with the pitcher leading off the 6th

I suspect the walk to McGehee was semi-intentional but still, four walks in a six batter span ins't a good sign and he needed more than twice as many pitches to get through innings 4-6 six (73) than it did for him to get through 1-3 (31)

You would have had to pry the ball out of Tom Seaver's cold, dead hand after only six innings of two-hit baseball.

I think if I was a manager, and my pitcher had a cold dead hand, I'd be sure to take him out of the game.

I went to a New York City school. I have pride when my sister and brother Jaspers succeed and do great things. But if and when young men from alma mater play for teams other than the Mets, or worse, directly thwart Met ambitions, I label these men as TRAITORS.

This has made the reading of the IGT most bearable, thank you Edge. I already know how it ends and I'm peeking at early innings. Not gonna waste too much time on this one. Another 9th inning loss. Very frustrating.

Edgy MD May 07 2014 08:25 PM Re: IGT 5/7, Mets vs. Marlins |
I wasn't knocking him. I meant that one run would have kept 'em in that game, and Eric is the sort of small-ball guy that takes you a long way toward getting that one run, if robbing you of some of your three-run homer potential.
