OotSB: Knuckles!

Detroit, down 9-2 in the ninth to Texas, turned the ball over to banjo-hitting infielder Danny Worth and that knuckler he's been fooling around with.

ChiSox activated LHP Chris Sale off the DL today - which is significant because the Yanx are visiting the Windy City tonight (all week in fact) and are still looking for their first baserunner off Mr. Sale with 1 out in the 6th.

Was watching Sale go between innings tonight. He has a unique delivery, extremely whiplike and appears nearly impossible to hit.

Long, too. He's like a pitching vulture or something. You don't remember him before? He struck out, like, a million billion Mets when we went up agin' him last year (?).

Anysuch, they pulled him after six, with 10 strikeouts and only one hit on the other side of the ledger, but their bullpen faltered in the ninth, and the Sox barely held on for a 3-2 win.

I guess I don't appreciate opposing pitchers as much when they're killing us. Also my memory for games has really deteriorated in recent years. At times it troubles me how much energy I devote to paying attention to this team but how little I retain.

Looking that game reveals that UMDB's scorecard is missing some info on the ChiSox side of the ledger, specifically two ABs are left blank [de Aza's in the 5th & the walk-off hit by Ramirez in the 9th] which accounted for Chicago runs. At a quick glance it appears that the Mets won that game. Might want to look into that to see whether it's a one-time deal or some kind of systemic flaw in how you create those.
