We owe these guys for the season opening sweep. Since that sweep they're actually a sub-.500 club giving them an overall record of 21-19 and a dead-even RS/RA (they were +12 vs Us).
Their offense is a bit down now as they are currently Harper-less, (Ryan) Zimmerman-less, and now LaRoche-less even if they did just recently get catcher Wilson Ramos back. Tyler Moore (1B), Danny Espinosa (IF), and a combo of Kevin Fransden & Nate McLouth (OF) have been filling in.
Their defense still suxx (SS Desmond in particular), their pitching still pretty good. In all they seem to be in their second year at being somewhat less than the sum of the parts, a problem that those in charge seem to have trouble putting their finger on the specific cause.
Theyre kind of the Bizarro-Mets in terms of when they score. Where as we score early and try to hang on, they tend to dig themselves an early hole and spend the rest of the game trying to fight back. check out those lopsided early inning, and then late inning, figures! 1st - 3rd innings: 44 Runs scored 70 Runs Allowed 4th - 6th innings: 41 Runs scored 53 Runs Allowed 7th - 9th innings: [u:2qpy1efc]70 Runs scored 31 Runs Allowed[/u:2qpy1efc]
The Mets, by contrast, are +11 early, -7 in the middle innings, then -8 late
For some reason MLB.com is listing their weekend pitchers as TBD, although by rotation is should be Gio Gonzalez and then Jordan Zimmermann. Neither one, to my knowledge, should be missing a start for any reason. Gonzalez got his butt kicked last week in Oakland but has been OK otherwise. Zimmermann has been their best pitcher all year.
Friday 7:05 Niese vs Tanner Roark
Saturday 4:05 (an actual Saturday day game) Colon vs TBD
Sunday 1:35 Wheeler vs TBD
