The Granderson one looks so much like him, it's uncanny.

I hope this doesn't upset m.e.t.b.o.t.

Re: OYO figurines

I've got a generic one around here somewhere. I could've sworn I ordered David Wright but it was a plain 00 when he got here. sometimes I let yoshi play with his bat.

Of course, m.e.t.b.o.t. has no emotion ... I was
speaking figurinetively.

Ok, that was bad ... I go now.

Can we talk about Lego Wright's facial hair?

I'm pretty sure the "outfield set" features the time-travelingl trio of Tsuyoshi Shinjo, Matt den Dekker, and Carlos Delgado.

See if you can guess which one is the figurine.

Technically it's a 5 o'clock shadow.

Ed Kranepool was born with a 5 o'clock shadow...

What's the difference? the hands?

You guys forgot to remind me to find my guy so I could bring him to work.

Re: OYO figurines

lego minifigs do not have knees and elbows. the legs hinge at the hip, the arms pivot at the shoulder, and the hands rotate at the wrist. and they don't generally have printed noses. the body shape is different, as lego minifigs don't have butts, for instance.

more importantly, lego typically have a greater build quality, tighter tolerances, and use a higher quality plastic than their competitors. this means they last longer, hold together better, and hurt more when you step on them.

for comparison...

Re: OYO figurines

ahh. fair points. I like the elbows/knees bit for baseball players though. this way you can blow out a UCL.

Yeah I'm a Lego brand loyalist. Most of the Johnny-come-lately Lego knockoffs in our house (they come as gifts) just aren't the same.

Too subtle for me. Care to elucidate?

Re: OYO figurines

Gil was something of a radical in terms of defensive alignment, twice (if I remember correctly) repositioning an infielder to create a four-outfielder alignment against Frank Robinson.

I'm pretty sure he never positioned his firstbaseman in foul territory, though. That may be a tribute to Keith Hernandez.

Re: OYO figurines

You know, I kept looking at First Base, because that was Gil's position, and noticed that the First Basemen was in foul territory and thought that was a Keith Hernandez trait rather than Gil Hodges, and all of this distracted me from noticing the four-man outfield.

Yoshi shows bunt

Btw, the hands on the OYO figures are smaller than normal legos so they can't even hold the same objects. Yoshi's only bunting because his hands were too big to hold the bat. (I think Yoshi is a normal lego at least, could be wrong there)

I bought a second because of that actually, the legs break way too easily. (this one's actually glued)

I only bought it to take pictures of it with Yoshi, and I really did intend to get the David Wright one.

I have the Tom Seaver one, but I keep it in the packaging on display on the Seaver shelf.

Drill Yoshii for showing the bunt so early.

We got a pink Yoshi out of a second package -- and she lost one of the hands. I'm not letting her touch anything any more. That's also why Amy Pond and the Ood live on my desk at work.
