I put a Jose Valverde poster on my door and it couldn't close.

On Opening Day I thought that he might be fun to watch as a Met.

I was disavowed of that notion quickly.

Check the players' lot tomorrow. If that Italian-looking road-ripper isn't there, you know it was his.

Electrifying opening-day performance probably earned him 2 months of paychecks that might not have been his otherwise, but I think we all knew his tenure was going to be short.

There was no question that he had to go.

Maybe the Mets stuck with him for so long in the increasingly vain hope that he'd be this year's LaTroy Hawkins.

I guess the final impression I wouldn't have expected was Terry making a point to admire his professionalism in spite of his failures; he seemed very saddened to have had to cut ties with him.
