25 of 33

Mets games on the road: 25 of 33, starting last night, the most any team has played since 1995. MLB senior VP Katy Feeney suggested the Yankees are partly responsible. Yankee Stadium needed to avoid baseball games for part of May because of NYU graduation ceremonies taking place there. That meant the Mets were home more than usual during that period, while the Yankees were away. Poster Edgy MD says that schedules get weirder every year under Katy's watch, and that he wishes his dad was the National League president.

Anyhow, if there's anything to this they're-worse-at-home-for-a-reason-though-we're-not-sure-what-it-is bidness, hopefully they can use this period as a slingshot. They've got their catcher back, three hot sexy rookie pitchers called up to join the staff in three weeks, and maybe Young and Granderson hitting at the same time for the first time all year.

I know, I know. You see 25 and 33 together and you picture Bobby Bonilla and Eddie Murray and it's 1993 all over again. Get past that image. Go Mets.

It's easy to get carried away with this group when they're succeeding but sure I can see 'em winning 25 of their next 33.

They put a good starting pitcher out there most every night, and it looks for the moment like they have a bullpen clicking. If they catch the ball, stop making outs on the basebaths, and a few folks step up and hit, well...

Oh, and the division is about as winnable as ever.

I rarely get bent out of shape over how low raid-trips are or aren't, it still all evens out in the end.
As far as this particular stretch goes, there's no telling how far they can take it once this five-game sweep is in the bag.

Wait really? Did they need weeks to set up or something around that Wednesday? I don't mind a weird schedule, but messing with the Mets cause another franchise wanted to leverage their stadium for non-baseball reasons is dumb.

The Mets already acquiesce to the US Open (They're away for the entire thing except the very final day) we don't need another monkey wrench.

Yeah, but this team SUCKS at home. Let 'em play the whole damn season on the road if it means they'll finally win a fecking game.
