Well, you clearly haven't read the books so I won't tell you what I expect from the finale.
Like True Blood, I enjoy the series but am not enthralled by it necessarily. My biggest draw is still seeing the story I've already read on screen.
Obviously they've deviated some. But based on the conclusions of certain books I suspect we'll see some excited stuff from Ayra's storyline and from Tyrion's. I expected them to finish up the Wall storyline this week to devote time elsewhere in the finale, but there's still something going on there.
In fact, there's still a ton of stuff to happen at the wall, and I guess they're going to do much of that next season. Sorta wondering if last week's cliffhanger will not be resolved in the finale, but I suspect they're going to deviate somewhat. Perhaps they're going to slow it down, because while there's quite a bit that happens with those characters, there is very little in the way of resolution so far in the books of things that are set in motion over the next couple of weeks of time there.
I haven't been captivated by that storyline yet either, but perhaps because I know what's coming and am impatient for it. WHY were they shooting flaming arrows off the wall anyway? They weren't lighting anything on fire, they were just allowed the enemy to see the arrows coming.
With Arya, I'm actually sorta disappointed so far that they've left off a particularly creepy part of the storyline. She actually has some of the wolf dream stuff that Bran has and there's a gruesome discovery bit in there. She also never makes it quite as close to Sansa as she did in that episode. Bran never makes it as close to Jon as he does either.
