Love Thy Neighbor 2014

I forget which thread I was kvetching about the blower guy in ... couldn't find it, so starting a new thread about the people we share space with. Refreshing, I have an annoying neighbor behind the house on another street that constantly is running his gas blower.. sometimes three times a day. It's weird and annoying. So I saw my next door neighbor who I have zero in common with and we exchange hello's and howdy-doos from time to time but we've never said more than a sentence or two to each other in three years. I said what's up and I motioned to him to come closer. I asked him if he knew blower-guy and what was up with his constant blowing. He said, "I dunno, some rich nigger up in town owns that house and rents it to as many dumbasses as he can and maybe he's the maintenance man!" And then he lets out this big ol' belly laugh and walks away. Alrighty then, nice talkin' to ya!

Got a casual racist crazy ol' coot around the corner from me. Apparently before I moved in, the house next door to me (fugliest in the neighborhood) was occupied by dealers who were also running a flophouse. They are long gone, kicked out, the house next door has been sold and bought twice over, and is in the process of an extensive renovation to upgrade it from fugly to merely ugly. Two years down the road, the guy can't see me without saying that he hopes those ______don't come back. Generally not the n-word, but casual variations. Sometimes the n-word. My dad taught me by example not to argue with crazy, but you hate to see that word off the leash and a jackass using it to conspire with you, making you guilty by association. My borough/town had a church bought by a mosque. or in the process of doing so anyway. People are up in arms about it and only barely getting in the "I'm not racist, but.." stuff before spouting off 9/11 conspiracies and inferring that they're all women-hating terrorists who are going to play loud 'call to prayer' announcements at 3am and lower property values.
