Wee, Cheetum, and Howe LLC (business grammar)

[u:1w09buqw]Greetings/Salutations[/u:1w09buqw]

Dear Mr. Wee and Dear Ms. Cheetum are easy enough.
Is Dear Sir/Madam still acceptable? Sounds terribly old
fashioned to me. How do you start off a letter to a group
if you don't know them or their gender?

Also, I've seen on the interweb that Ms. doesn't require
a period. First time I've heard that.

Re: Wee, Cheetum, and Howe LLC (business grammar)

I thought I'd ask since half the forum are Englishy-
types, and half are lawyers/professionals, and I don't
know what the other half of you do.

The internet seems to say:
Dear Sir or Madam is acceptable to some, but offensive
to others -- stay away from it.
Others go with To Whom it May Concern -- I say no.
Dear ________ Professional (e.g. Hiring or Owning) --
I don't dig that either.
I went with dig deep into the internet first to find a full
name or call and see if you can get a name from the
receptionist. Otherwise, go on to the next firm on
the list.
