I wouldn't mind seeing Nieuwenhuis starting and Abreu sitting one of these days.
Get the kid some ABs Terry.

Another long-y first inning.

This one went the wrong way, though.

Maybe it just seems this way, but I think the last 56 runs the Met staff have given up all came with two outs.

Definitely NOT a catch.

Re: IGT 7/5 Mets v. Rangers Colon v Lewis

Mets rallying as Grandy (finally) beats the shift by going the other way.

Funny that immediately starts talking to Rougned Odor like they're old friends.

The Rangers are having a third inning like a Mets' eighth inning.

Re: IGT 7/5 Mets v. Rangers Colon v Lewis

Exactly how deep a fly ball would be required to get Bartolo in from 3rd?
I'm thinking somewhere in the 5-600 ft range.

Re: IGT 7/5 Mets v. Rangers Colon v Lewis

Here's the problem with a network game: SNY would instantly show us the shift - or lack of one - with Duda up and the bases loaded, and have commentary to go with it.
FOX is either content to let us guess or they just don't care that much.

Turns out, as seen from the high shot, that they were playing things fairly straight up, but we found that out essentially by accident.

A kaboom! for Travis and nice innings for Granderson and Abreu...

Man, too bad David couldn't have put it in the gap like that last time.

Yeah, we're gonna regret not cashing in more runs there in the 3rd.

Cool to see d'Arnaux measuring the plate with his bat to establish his batting position.

Sux to see him go down on three pitches.

Tough chance wasted in the eighth with Laggy tearing into a ball but it turning into a 4-6-3.

We need Grandi to do something extremely positive here.

Couldn't ask for a better opportunity than to get a runner on with Grandy-Muffy-Wrighty coming up.

Bad game for Muff.

Giving away the first two strikes with lame bunt attempts didn't help. Yeah he wound up hitting it hard, but the 0-2 pitch put him in a must-swing position.

But the bottom line is that the Rangers got two two-out HRs for 4 of their 5 runs,
while our bats--given a bases-loaded/no-out situation, then later a lead-off double, then later still a 1st & 2nd/none out set-up--and wound up with exactly one single and one run out of all three combined.

Muffington argued with the home plate ump all night. I'm kinda surprised he didn't get tossed.

Bad game for Doodoo.
