Rustic Staub, an All-Star in his last year before coming to the Mets, and an All-Star in his first year after leaving the Mets. Nothing but an absolute gem, who kept us more than even, in between. (Damn: beaten to the punch while monologuing.)

There ya have 'em. They kept their feet on the ground and they kept reaching for the stars...but never quite grapsed one while a Met. Agee in 1970 and Rusty in 1975 seemed like worthy candidates. Mookie was simply solid for a decade.
