Who Needs All-Stars Anyway? (Quiz)

The Mets' greatness is predicated on never standing still. They are such a machine in motion that on [crossout:2wkyhoqs]17[/crossout:2wkyhoqs] 16 occasions players who've been named to a given season's All-Star team were gone from the Mets before the next season's All-Star Game rolled around.

See if you can name them one at a time.

My mistake initially -- 17 players in all.

OE: No, 16, actually.

Ah, gotcha.

Nope. Youngblood, trickily enough, was traded in his famous two-city jaunt after the 1982 All-Star Game, or more than a year after his 1981 All-Star Game appearance.

OE: Not "more than a year after," technically, given the vagaries of the 1981 split-season, but he lasted on the Mets one more All-Star break.
