Topps could not be bothered to take a new, non-Dodger picture of Tommy Davis for several years. But sweet locale for 1963 and its 1964 rerun (with the Polo Grounds in all its Leaders glory the latter year)! In between? Repetition became him.

You left out his '70, (which might be in a Mets uniform). Imagining Topps photog traveling day and night to this camp or that, only to be told when he asks for "Davis" -- the last man on his git-list -- "You mean Tommy? Oh, you just missed him. He was traded to..." And inevitably if the scene took place in Florida, Tommy was training in Arizona -- and vice-versa. "Ah screw it," the photographer thought. "I'll tell them he was sick that day and they should use that picture from Vero Beach again."
