Prayers Needed for cooby's Sister

I'm not even sure how to write this. cooby received word on Thursday night that her sister has a brain tumor. She's going to undergo surgery later this week, and that will be followed up by chemo, radiation, etc. Even the best case scenario involves a long and difficult road. coobySis is a sweet, gentle and religious woman whose biggest asset going into this fight is a huge support network of people who love her. She welcomes prayers and well wishes from all, even those who don't know her. cooby was reluctant to post about this on Facebook, but felt comfortable letting you guys know about it in the relative anonymity of the Pool. Feel free to post prayers, well wishes and good vibes for a speedy recovery here! {{Major Hugs to cooby and her family}}

Thank you...with my husband's encouragement I did put a little something on facebook, but she will take all the warm thoughts and prayers she can get. Thank you friends

Thank you friends. Again, you guys are the best :) Vicki's surgery will be tomorrow (Thursday) morning at Geisinger Medical Center. As some of you may remember, our dad died there nearly seven years ago of a brain injury. Hoping some of Dad's spirit is still hanging around there to help Vicki through this trauma. And our dear mother.

Vicki's home from Geisinger...hasn't started chemo and radiation yet, but she's looking pretty strong, so It won't be long, hopefully :) After that she'll be part of a clinical trial.

Saw Vicki today....she looked good and sounded like her old self. However, chemo and radiation will start any day now. Sometimes I just find this all so hard to believe. :(

Vicki is now taking her radiation and chemo treatments. She continues to be upbeat. Today when I talked to her she was all excited about her new wig. Our niece who is a beautician will style it for her. She's doing some work from home as her energy allows. She says 'Amy it's weird trying to email because I know how to spell things but I just can't seem to type it right. It's like I've forgotten how to type. But I know it'll come back to me' She's being so brave. When our dad had cancer he was so brave. But I am so scared :(. I won't tell her that though

Just talked to Mom...she spent the holiday with Vicki and her family. Vicki is in between rounds of intense chemo but is just not the same woman and never will be. This is a woman who is not only a (really) beautiful woman, but smart, sharp and in fact an accountant, like our dad was. No dummy. But she can't work, cant drive. She will soon be hooked up to a device that send electric shocks through her skull in a hope to turn back the cancer. Plus the chemo I guess. I love her so but I just don't know what to do for her. The experimental serum we were all hoping for will not be happening for her. Im losing my religion, friends. I will never turn my back on Jesus because I know he suffered but I just cannot face praising God right now. What can I do?

There comes a point in any "battle" with cancer when "fighting" is past the point. We got to this point pretty quickly in dealing with my mom's illness. If that's the point where Vicki is, then all you can do is make her as comfortable as you can, make her feel loved, and help her say goodbye with as much dignity and agency as possible.

Thanks, Ashie, and everyone. Saturday night was an honest to God meltdown, but having seen her yesterday I feel somewhat better. Not any braver, but better. Thanks metfairy for the email; I will take your advice :)
