The shortest name in big league history shortens (ends actually) the Cat's last MLB life.

Ott fined $250.

Your link was a little screwy. http://felixbook.com/2014/08/12/dark-da ... s-stadium/

Would have hoped for a little more insight on the brawl than Felix gave me there. I knew all that.

I guess we have to buy the damn book.

A vicious assault shut the door on his MLB life and we get two paragraphs?

Or maybe it's a sign that the book might not be worth reading.

Wow. I didn't know this. I had just quit the Mets after the Seaver trade.

I slowly returned to the fold, but for a long time I didn't even peek at box scores to see how they were doing. That's fucked up Ott did that (& pretty much got away with it).

Felix Millian signed for me at the bus behind the Shea LF bullpen... yet I do not remember that incident.....

I remember the incident, and Millan pretty much asked for it.

Re: Dark Day at Three Rivers

He was initially replaced by a combination of Bobby Valentine and Joel Youngblood. If the Mets had a late inning lead, they'd send Foli in at shortstop and slide Flynn --- a good shortstop but a great secondbaseman --- over to the keystone to finish the game. Torre grew unhappy with the defense he was getting from Valenblood (Valentine's range was pretty narrow at this point, and Youngblood was undisciplined), so by the end of the season, Flynnie was his fulltime secondsacker. The Mets wouldn't be getting any offense from second again until 1984.

Millan would resurface again with the Taiyo Whales, and become somewhat famous in Japan for being the first westerner to attend the famously martial and exhausting winter camp that Japanese players endure.

I bought Millan's book last year, I think. Still haven't gotten past page one.
