But if you just want an arm for the month and don't want to waste service time on a guy like Matz that you'll need later, then this might be a shrewd move. DFA him in October if he turns out to be nothing special.

LV is also in the playoffs, so there's a reason to keep the 51s roster mostly intact for the time being.
