Last AB HR Quiz

Inspired in part by the idea that Bobby Abreu may go deep this afternoon, and also in part by this past week's highly touted 'Could a better script possibly have been written?' story line (than a 9th inning single in his 4th-from-last game ... umm, Yes!)

42 players since 1900 have HR'd in their final ML AB including, most famously, HoF'er Ted Williams
Certainly not going to ask about all of them, but can you name the four who have done so as a New York Met?
And to make things a bit easier, I'll list them in chronological order and show the career # HR that it was for each

1) 34th and final career HR

2) 1st and, quite obviously, his only

3) 17th

4) 253rd

And in a bit of an oddity (although only a bit) all four of these incidents occurred on an October 3rd

Re: Last AB HR Quiz

If one of them was Craig Brazell, I was at that game.

It's good of you all to get your guesses in before Greg shows up and recites them all from memory.

Re: Last AB HR Quiz

Not sure what other hints to give. You've already got that it was the first and only HR of his career and the exact date. So other than telling you that his initials were Chris Jelic I don't know what else to say.

Last player to do it, btw, was Jim Edmonds who hit the 393rd of his career for the Cincinnati Reds in September 2010
His was the 2nd highest HR total to end a career (behind Williams of course). Zeile's was 3rd highest just ahead of Ray Lankford.
I count a dozen guys who, like Jelic, hit the only HR of their career in their final ML AB

Re: Last AB HR Quiz

Initials are good. That's always a good clue. Chris Jelic?
