Also, Arbitration. Got another 2 weeks or so to make everyone elses rosters more expensive.

after arb which I think is 11/15. I mean, you can drop 'em now but on the off chance someone wants to give a +$1 to a guy you're going to drop, you save money by waiting. And before 1/31. That's the keeper deadline.

hmm... there have been some interesting cuts already in the league. players i would definitely (or likely) have kept at their going salaries are being shed left and right. a $3 darren o'day, an $8 drew stubbs, a bargain-priced $17 adrian gonzalez, and even a reasonably priced $26 matt kemp with a fair amount of upside... obviously, difficult decisions are being made, and i'm myself not yet ready to make my own massive mistakes. thanks to all your arbitration efforts, i've got some hard work to do. jerks.

Yewah, Darren o'Day was a mistake. His box was somehow prechecked or inadvertently checked when I made cuts. I didn't wanna make a big issue of it.

ah. sorry, then. i did that the first year of hte league. i forget which player. maybe johnny venters, though i struggle to think of why i would have wanted to keep him at $20. anyways, he blew up his elbow in spring training the follwing season, and has yet to pitch again so it all worked out, ofr me at least. hopefully o'day does not see the same thing happen to his own career.

I feel like you can generally pick up the 'one-year wonder' type relievers for pennies in May if you're paying attention.

Technically you don't need them, can just stack SP and get your innings, but RP generally have higher K rates(and lower ERA) so really you need them to win those categories.

i'm finding htat this year, more than most, i'm really struggling with deciding who to cut and who not to cut. part of it is that i see there are a lot of teams with, potentially, a ton of money to spend, and i've got some players that that money could get spent on. so my chances of redrafting a player at a reduced rate seems slim. it's worked in the past, and for some reason our league seems to have depressed salaries for the top players, but i'm not expecting htat to hold for much longer. so right now, i'm looking, i think, at a stars & scrubs lineup, and a fair number of bench slots to fill for not a lot of money in the draft. my team does look rather stacked, though. i'm happy to entertain trades for some of my more expensive players, of course, but i'm still in win-now mode, perhaps moreso now than ever. if, for instance, you think you might want to own your very own $60 clayton kershaw, and have something truly compelling to offer, i'm a-listening. the same holds true for a $39 future-met troy tulowitzki.

It's not like you're the first person to make a mistake by cutting Darren O'Day. I've done a good job of grabbing prospects and making cheap investments on good players, but none of my big investments have paid off. I have plenty of money for a small number of spots, but I feel like I need to grab somebody big who then plays up to the salary.

I have a feeling the loss of Wheeler for the year is going to hurt my fantasy team more than it will the Mets. I feel their pain, though. With him, I felt like I had some starting pitching depth. Without him...yikes!

If you set your lineups before the post-draft waiver period started, they have been reset and you will want to go in and set them again before Opening Day.

true, but if you don't hit the 1250 minimum innnings, your pitching points drop down to 1, no matter how good htey are.

I've acquired some of the Mets' young pitching guns over the past few years (Harvey, Syndergaard, Wheeler, Montero) thinking they would anchor my rotation for years to come. Obviously, Wheeler and Montero are hurt and Harvey and Syndergaard are not even included in my top five starters....yet, Mike Pelfrey and Chris Young are. Baseball is funny.

Christ, the Alpine Albatrosses have dominated for three seasons now. We might have to name the championship trophy after their owner. My team is definitely boxed in right now. My high priced players are guys I don't think I could even give away. I now understand that if you are re-building for the third time in three years, it's really just one long re-build.

Yeah, shortly after my last post I was able to move David Price (mostly by picking up his salary for the remainder of the year). I can't decide if Harper is going to be part of my future or not since I'm guessing his salary is going to increase mightily during the off-season. I'm open to offers on him, though. *wink*

if harper ended up where trout is now, he's still an easy keep. you also have syndergaard, and harvey as well, there to siphon off some of the arbitration interest.

If your teams are so terrible, you should maybe be a little more active on auctions, or looking for cheap players to hang onto. None of y'all were in on schwarber! Now, fine, he went for a ton of cash, but that none of you even bid a few dollars...? Or moreland... He went for a buck! You weren't going to outbid smg, but you could've driven up his cost. Don't wait until the offseason to start your rebuild! There's still promising players out there, and if you get them cheaply enough, you can hang onto them for next year. They may not be foundational players, but they could help solidify your roster.

Tried to apply all my money to Alpine Albatrosses, but it wouldn't let me. Really want that team to be full of Albatross contracts, damn defending champs.
