The End of the Fantastic Four?

They launched the Marvel Universe, but it appears that next year, the Fantastic Four will end its run with a three-part finale issue, #645.

This is apparently all due to Marvel's CEO, Ike Perlmutter, and his anger at the movie licensing deal that gave Fox the rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Marvel gets none of the profit from these films, you see, and so with Fox continuing to balk at renegotiating the deal, Marvel has quietly scrapped licenses and merchandise related to the F4. Toy makers are now forbidden to make any new Fantastic Four action figures. Posters of the Fantastic Four have been pulled down at Marvel headquarters.

And now comes the description of the upcoming final few issues in the series:

THE END IS FOUREVER! Witness the closing act on the First Family of the Marvel Universe! THE INVADERS meet the FANTASTIC FOUR as the hunt for REED RICHARDS and the missing kids of the FUTURE FOUNDATION continues. Meanwhile the mastermind behind everything unveils his ultimate plan. But how does FRANKLIN RICHARDS factor in? And how does this all lead to…The END?! Collecting FANTASTIC FOUR #642-644 and the Triple Sized Final Issue 645!

Could this really be the end of the Fantastic Four? Normally I would say, "this is comics, nothing ever actually ends," but I don't know. Time will tell, I guess.
