Reports rolling out that the remaining kidnapped Nigerian girls are to be released after a brokered deal with the kidnappers and the government.

I hope things work out for the girls and their families, but unfortunately I trust neither party in this. I have a very bright female engineering major from Nigeria in my physics class at Hofstra. The thought that Boko Haram would look at somebody like her and see everything that is wrong with the world just blows my mind.

The kidnapping itself got plenty of press in US press. I imagine if this deal was authentic, it would be reported. Some in the US media have reported tales of cautious optimism in the girls' hometowns, but unlike UK sources, seemingly none will report the validity of reports of the existence of the deal itself.
