Cumulative Offseason Trade Evaluation

The intent here is to evaluate our trades this offseason, using VORP from 2005 to start. I've tried to be sequential here to make it a little easier to track individual trades.

Gained
Julio, SP (MLB) -4 VORP
Maine, SP (AAA) -4.1 VORP
Schmoll, RP (MLB) -0.5 VORP
Sanchez, RP (MLB) 14.1 VORP
LoDuca, C (MLB) 21.5 VORP
Redman, OF (MLB) -2.0 VORP
Delgado, 1B (MLB) 71.7 VORP
Nady, OF (MLB) 13.6 VORP

TOTAL: 110.3 VORP gained

Lost
Benson (MLB) 22.5 VORP
Seo (MLB) 30.2 VORP
Hamulak (AAA) -4.6 VORP
Gaby Hernandez (AAA) -
Petit (AAA) -
Jacobs (MLB) 16.5 VORP
Psomas (AAA) -
Cameron (MLB) 22.5

TOTAL: 87.1 VORP lost

NET: 23.2 in our favor

Of course, all of the players we got back contributed (or tried to) last year, whereas 3 of the guys we gave up were in the minors all year, and an additional 3 spent significant time in the minors.

Take out the Delgado trade, and we lost 32 in VORP. More later.

Yes, kids, and remember CPF official policy: Go directly from "Too early to weigh in yet, all the information has not been gathered" to "Who the hell cares about news from years ago? Get with the program."

There is no middle stage. If you do not move directly through the above stages, you will be made to feel like an idiot. We don't want any loitering around here.

There's not a lot of interest here in discussing Mets' fuckups of the recent past. Basically it's "Too soon to tell, too soon to judge, too soon to know, one of the players in that deal is still a 38-year old minor leaguer who I have very high hopes for, oops, nobody cares about that stuff any more." I've tried once or twice. Optimets will try to avoid discussing the Mets' trading history like the murderer on a bad made-for-TV courtroom drama will try to avoid testifying.

You put enough garlic on beef, it always smells like pork.

There's been plenty of interest, your hatred has blinded you.

lmao.
I just hate typing stuff for the sake of typing stuff.
Ill save my time and finger strength for when im not speculating, but have a truly formed opinion.
Theres no official policy, and theres plenty of gray area for those who wish to analize the in between.
Ill save my review until the shows over.

Ill be happy to discuss this in retrospect.
We can go all the way back and start with Amos Otis, if you like.

The Mets have made some of the most horrendous trades in the history of baseball. I wont deny it.

Am I supposed to give up on the season in January?

No, "the doggie wee-wee
Has blinded me
And I can’t see
Temporarily"
