Hey '62

MFS62
Jan 25 2006 11:38 AM

I'm thisclose to suing for infringement of something or other. :)

Welcome, newbie.

As a rookie here, you have to get up on that virtual table in the middle of the room and sing your school fight song.

Then when you get down, tell us a little about yourself.

And if you're really old enough to remember '62, be careful.

I am *62 ...... Zionist Dog ....... 43 ........ Greenpoint, Brooklyn native living in SW Florida ........... I am regularly at NYSD but lofted in here on a slow news day to just poke around ........... became an everyday Met fan in 1968 at age 5/6 and cried when that falafel-head, Johnny Bench, was awarded ROY honors instead of the TRUE 1968 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, Jerry Koosman !!!!!......... Danced on Meeker Ave. in my underwear when The Amazins won it all in '69 .......... woke up my entire Batallion at Hunter Army Airfield, GA, when the '86 team beat Boston, and had to buff the floors at HQ for thirty days thereafter foir my indiscretion ............. I love the Mets, and am notorious at NYSD for my criticism of Jose Reyes.

I have a wife, a two year old son, a dog and two cats, and I'm a Leo, if that matters.

Nice introduction. Hope you enjoy the crane pool.

*62 - "...I love the Mets, and am notorious at NYSD for my criticism of Jose Reyes."

We, as a forum, are notorious in some circles for loving the Mets and being elitist jerks. I hope you will find that we a quite accepting of new members that wish to discuss baseball and the Mets and are willing to support their views. Look forward to "seeing" you online.

As pronounced "Greenpernt"?

Welcome.
Stay a while.
And get ready to post something special for your 41st post (in honor of Tom Teriffic).

Did you need a license to operate that buffer, young trooper?

I'm terrified that he's going to be flying around second one day and his hamstring is going to completely detach from it's point of insertion.

I think this thread is more about Steely Dan, Reyes and Chico than it is about *62...I hope he don't feel no Deacon Blues...

I never care d for ARandy Jones or the Pads' gay softball yoonies. AZnd then that peice of drek gets traded here ........ it was insulting.

He did, however, throw 25 CG's and 315 INN. Made all the difference.

F^(hk Randy Jones, though, I'm in a good mood.

Is there a Freeman Street in Brooklyn?
When she was little, MMYF lived on Freeman Street in da Bronx.
Yo.

It's a tiny, insignificant street, named because it fits the alphabetical order of the 'hood between Eagle and Green streets.

Sure beats Queens where every street is a number, so long as you can manage to remember that STREETS run East to West; ROADS run West to East and AVENUES run North and South, with STREETS and ROADS ascending in number south to north, and AVENUES ascending in number West to East. There's also a designation for numbered streets called PLACE, which I never figured out.

In Astoria, it gets exciting when the 30ish streets and roads meet the 30ish avenues. I practice hitting at batting cages located at the corner of 36th and 36th.

My cousin (Brooklyn-born and raised, living on Roosevelt Island for 30 years) is convinced that Queens was designed by a lunatic with its 20th St., 20th, Av., 20th Rd., etc. I think she's on to something.

*62
Jan 26 2006 05:23 PM

That's nothing!

Down here in Cape Coral, Florida, the second largest city in Florida by area, we have numbered "steets", "terraces", and "lanes" running E-W and "avenues", "places", and "courts" running N-S. Add that to the number and bizarre nature of the canals which were dug out, and the place ius a circus. I've been here ten years and have no idea how to find an address without a Mapquest visit, or by asking. You can see the home you need to get to and have no idea of how to get there. It's ...... bizarre.

Whenever I'm in Atlanta, it seems that practically every other street is named Peachtree. There are a few dozen variations of streets named Peachtree (Street, Road, Lane, Blvd., Circle, Avenue, Way, Plaza, and Parkway to name just a few). It's maddening.

You know *62 from another board?
Sounds like we need an update to that prior screen names thread on the non-baseball CPF board.

Glad to have *62 with us, but unless he had other names at either the MOFO or the original (EZBoard) Crane Pool, then I don't add them to the "Who's Who" thread. I could be wrong, but I don't get the impression that *62 was at the CPF prior to our move here.

If others know differently, then please let me know.

MFS62
Jan 27 2006 12:32 PM

I thought there was a thread that asked what screennames folks had used elsewhere.
That was what I was thinking about. Not prior names on this board.

where's the "edit" button?

Just to mention that I was originally "62MetsFan" but assumed my current handle after a prominent thread about juicing. Anyone I suspected of juicing got a * before their names whenever mentioned. I caught much hell for having no love for *Bonds so I petitioned Joe for a name change and my request was granted. I'm proud of my asterisk, thank you.
